Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 193 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify reasons for home ownership and offer an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting detail. The conclusion contradicts the earlier points made about the benefits of home ownership, leading to a lack of clarity regarding your final position. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples or explanations to meet the length requirement and ensure your position remains consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'on the one hand' and 'to conclude', the transitions between sentences are often abrupt or confusing. For example, the shift from discussing home ownership to the difficulties of moving for education is not clearly linked. Additionally, the paragraphing is somewhat mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your central argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'beautiful place', 'good', and 'benefits'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'becuase', 'benifits', 'childern', and 'fron', which distract the reader. The word choice is often imprecise, such as 'dealing to each other' or 'every month pay charges'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to housing and finance, and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('people lives', 'own home have'), article usage ('the hometown house'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple and lack the complexity required for higher bands. For instance, 'Which is discuss in paragraph below' is grammatically incorrect. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
