Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding why owning a home is important and whether this trend is positive or negative. However, the student's position contains a contradiction: the introduction and conclusion state that this is a negative situation, yet the body paragraphs mistakenly argue for why people prefer renting ('Cost reduction is a considerable reason residents prefer to live at rented apartment'), misinterpreting the prompt's focus on homeownership. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum by being 6 words under the limit, ending abruptly in the conclusion ('I believe this is a negative de'). These issues limit the development of ideas. Therefore, it meets the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into an introduction, body paragraphs, and an incomplete conclusion, showing some overall structure. However, paragraphing and logical progression are hindered by the confusion in the second body paragraph, which discusses renting instead of homeownership. Cohesive devices are attempted ('For instance', 'As a result of this', 'In conclusion'), but they are sometimes repetitive and used mechanically. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to ambiguous subjects. These organizational and logical flaws place the response at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are notable word choice errors, such as 'owing' instead of 'owning' in the opening sentence, and spelling mistakes like 'neccesary' and 'inorder'. Repetition of phrases like 'most society' and 'cost reduction' limits the range of vocabulary. While some less common items are attempted (e.g., 'significant percentage', 'acquire land properties'), inaccuracies in collocation and form prevent the score from reaching Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses ('laws are imposed on individuals of an apartment by the landlords to clean...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('is one of the significant reason peple prefer'), missing articles ('in most society were the percentage'), and preposition errors ('live at rented apartment'). These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, though communication is generally maintained. This reflects the descriptors for Band 5.0.
