IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, some people are purchasing appartments rather than renting house is essential for indiviuals. However, some indiviuals believe that building a home is important to sustain life, while other argue that renting a flats or appartments would be a great decision for the people.According to my perspective this owning a house would be a lot of postive aspects.
There are several reason why having personal house is paramount,
The first reason is that having a home providing you a financial freedom, when you have your own place ,the accomodation fee will not be given to the owner. For instance, in 2008 we migrated from trible area to city.where we took a home for rent but unfortunatly it was hard for us to manage it the we decide to buy it and we bought it, now it we have no worries about finanace.
Moreover, having a permanent appartment makes you fee comfortable because i believe that thos who have home's have enjoying as campare to rents one, due to the fact that it has some sort of freely environment for family. In addition,
Another postive aspect is you can expend mony on your house to make it more convenient for youselves.like you can upgarde the colours of exterior and interior of rooms and walls. For example, last year my friend bought a home in Hayatabad which was given for a rent before to someone's. ASfter that he spent a lot of money on decoration and upgradtion now it look more beautiful and peacefull.
However,it has some negative aspects as well like in some countries houses are highly expensive which are not affordable for everyone. Furthermore, renting a house for short family with low budget will be accessible and they can afford if their salaries are under the box.
In conclusion,Owning a home has been a great benefits for those who can buy it. According to my opinion everyone should have to buy a home if they can access, however , renting a house will not be undermine because it is for poor people to live in some nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing why home ownership is important and offering a clear position that it is a positive situation. Ideas are extended with reasons and examples, such as the personal anecdote about migrating in 2008 and the example of a friend renovating a home in Hayatabad. However, the development in places feels a bit disjointed, and the counter-argument regarding renting is somewhat simplistic and brief. Despite these minor limitations, the main prompt questions are adequately answered throughout the essay, fulfilling the core requirements of Task 2. This aligns best with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response exhibits an overall logical arrangement, with distinct paragraphs attempting to introduce reasons and counter-arguments. However, paragraphing is somewhat erratic, with abrupt line breaks and missing spaces after punctuation, such as "In addition, Another postive aspect..." and run-on sentences. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or misused, and referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., "low budget will be accessible and they can afford if their salaries are under the box"). Although the flow of ideas is discernible, the frequent mechanical errors in formatting and cohesive transitions restrict the score to Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words like 'financial freedom', 'accommodations', and 'upgradation'. However, there are numerous word choice errors and typos throughout the text, such as 'appartments', 'indiviuals', 'postive', 'tribel', and 'expend mony'. These lexical slips and spelling inaccuracies are noticeable and occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, though communication remains mostly intact. This performance sits firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and punctuation (e.g., "when you have your own place ,the accomodation fee will not be given", "thos who have home's have enjoying as campare to rents one"). These frequent errors frequently distract the reader and disrupt sentence structures, reflecting the typical profile of a Band 5 response.
