Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the prompt regarding home ownership and renting, but the response is severely underdeveloped and incomplete, ending abruptly in the middle of a word ("underprivile"). Furthermore, the text falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 125 words. While the writer touches on why home ownership is important and mentions renting, the second part of the prompt concerning whether this is a positive or negative situation is barely touched upon. Due to the extreme brevity, lack of full task coverage, and incomplete ideas, the response falls into the Band 4 descriptor for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into very short, fragmented paragraphs, including a single-sentence paragraph ("It has numerous benefits."). There are basic attempts at logical progression, contrasting home ownership with renting through transition words like "Conversely". However, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as "It is bound with numerous reasons" where the subject lacks a clear antecedent. The overall structure is disjointed, and the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow of the text. Cohesion is faulty and mechanical, aligning with a Band 5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring phrases like "most important parts", "daily lives", and "own house". There are noticeable word choice and collocation issues, such as "Its where spend most of our times and shares" and "moving on continuosly requires much of time and efforts". Spelling and drafting errors, including "continuosly" and the truncated word "underprivile", restrict the range of vocabulary. The lexical resource is minimally adequate for conveying simple meaning, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text contains a limited range of sentence structures, mostly simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the short text, such as missing pronouns and incorrect verb forms in "Its where spend most of our times and shares" and agreement errors like "gives thwm a chance". Punctuation is also problematic, notably missing apostrophes in contractions or possessives ("Its"). These frequent errors cause some difficulty and strain for the reader, which corresponds to a Band 5 level.
