In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?

Student answer (Band 4.0)

In modern era, nowadays,in some nations owning a home rather than pay is very compulsary for communers, because people not like to pay rent every month it is difficult moreover, sometimes people face financial issues. I think it is a positive development.

The prominent reason for this is because people have their own house it is comfortable and to have follow their own rules and regulations . moreover, they have some financial issues they have enough money to pay rent every month so thats why they choose their own home .for example,in some nations people havee choose discipline and live a peacefully life.

moreover, people choose to live own house because they donot like to follow the rules and regulations of other people.moreover, they follow their own routine because they spend a peacefully life and they strict to their rules also person feel more comfortable.

to conclude, some people donot but their own home because lack of job however, people are comfortable and not tensed about renting pay every month so thats why they choose to live own houses.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by attempting to explain why homeownership is important and giving an opinion that it is a positive development. However, the ideas remain underdeveloped and repetitive, relying on broad generalizations about comfort and rules without deeper elaboration. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met; the response contains only 175 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. This lack of development and severe under-length restriction pulls the overall task achievement down into the lower band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, which shows an attempt at a standard structure. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical links between sentences are often weak or mechanical. Cohesive devices like 'moreover' are heavily overused and sometimes misused to string clauses together awkwardly. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by repetitive statements, making the progression of the argument difficult to follow in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary range is very limited and repetitive, with words like 'rules', 'regulations', 'comfortable', and 'peacefully' recycled throughout the text. There are numerous word choice and spelling errors, such as 'compulsary' instead of 'compulsory', 'communers' instead of 'commoners', 'havee choose' instead of have chosen', and 'donot but' instead of 'do not buy'. These lexical limitations and frequent spelling errors strain the reader and reflect a restricted vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by a very limited range of structures, with frequent run-on sentences, comma splices, and fragment errors. Examples include 'people not like to pay rent every month it is difficult moreover, sometimes people face financial issues.' Complex sentences are attempted, but they are almost always faulty in construction. Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic throughout the text, leading to frequent errors that impede understanding and require the reader to work hard to grasp the intended meaning.
