Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring why homeownership is valued and stating a clear position that it is a positive development. In the body paragraphs, the student attempts to extend ideas by discussing financial security during emergencies and the emotional stability of housing families across generations. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, relying on broad generalisations rather than deep analysis or specific examples. For instance, the argument regarding emergency situations remains basic ('sell his house and have money'). While all parts of the prompt are covered, the depth of task fulfilment corresponds to a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing basic paragraphing awareness. However, overall progression is limited by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. Transition phrases such as 'To elaborate' and 'To illustrate' are used mechanically. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear or confusing, as seen in phrases like 'their make their family their' and 'how had life their'. The logical flow between sentences is frequently disrupted by grammatical and lexical inaccuracies, placing this criterion firmly at a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student frequently misuses common words and word forms, such as 'emergancy situtaion', 'tought situation', 'owership', and 'shealter'. There are numerous spelling errors ('beacuse', 'furture', 'genretion', 'essentail') and awkward collocations. Although the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic gist of the writer's argument, the high frequency of word-choice and spelling errors strains the reader and restricts the lexical score to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on the attempt to cover the topic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that frequently fail due to severe structural errors. Frequent mistakes include subject-verb agreement issues ('people have such thinking... that they have'), pronoun confusion ('he feel', 'he can use it as he want'), and incorrect verb forms ('how had life their and how are going to spend'). Punctuation and article usage are also weak throughout. Because errors are extremely frequent and occasionally impede smooth communication, the grammar performance aligns with a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
