IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It has been observed that, in few part of the world citizens think having a home is important than renting one. this happens due to many reasons, well i think it depends on indivisual's lifestyle. All the espects would be discussed in the upcoming pharagraph with its relevent panacea.
Discussing the former view folks think that its good to have their own house, so that masses don't have to gave money every month and also do not have to live under owner's rules and regulations, having a own home feels like freedom we can do what ever we want. Beside this, for some denizens house is their pride, they feels provd of having their home.
The fundamental reason of my inclination is that, some people goes to different city to do work or to study, oving to this it's not possible to buy a house for few years of study or work. In addition, if staying at a place without family then it is ok to find rental home, so these are the reasons why people decide to stay in rental houses.
In the contrary, if a person lives with family and had a fix job then its good to buy a home becaise its not fix that the rental house owner will keep contract for a long time whenever he will get some good offer, then he may break the contract, so to have a fix and guranteed house its better to buy a house.
To recapitulate, it is crucial to have a own home because its makes people free from every month rent and life under rules and regulations, however if living alone or studing for sum time or doing a job then its good to take a rental house.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons why homeownership is valued and giving an opinion on whether this situation is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the reasons for owning a home focus primarily on freedom from monthly rent and landlord regulations, such as 'masses don't have to gave money every month and also do not have to live under owner's rules and regulations'. The positive/negative aspect is addressed somewhat implicitly by discussing why renting is necessary for mobile workers and why buying is better for families with stable jobs. While the main parts of the prompt are covered, the arguments lack depth and extension, aligning best with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some overall organisation. However, the progression is frequently disrupted by poor cohesive devices, punctuation issues, and a lack of clear linking words. Many sentences run together without proper punctuation, such as 'this happens due to many reasons, well i think it depends on indivisual's lifestyle.' Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries and internal transitions feel awkward and mechanical, such as using 'The fundamental reason of my inclination is that...' which introduces a new point rather than maintaining a clear logical flow from the previous paragraph. Referencing is also sometimes unclear. These features are characteristic of Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word choice errors that occasionally cause strain for the reader. Examples include misspelled words like 'indivisual's', 'espects', 'pharagraph', 'relevent', 'provd', 'oving', 'guranteed', and 'studing'. Phrases like 'gave money' instead of 'pay money' and 'a fix job' instead of 'a stable job' demonstrate a limited control of collocation and lexical form. While the student attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'denizens' and 'recapitulate', the high frequency of basic lexical and spelling errors keeps the response at a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles, subject-verb agreement issues, and heavy run-on sentences joined by commas instead of proper conjunctions or full stops (e.g., 'All the espects would be discussed in the upcoming pharagraph with its relevent panacea.' and 'In the contrary, if a person lives with family and had a fix job then its good to buy a home becaise its not fix that...'). These frequent errors and faulty complex structures hinder readability and fit the description for Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
