Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by explaining why home ownership is important and stating a clear position that owning a home is a positive situation. The main ideas, such as financial security, control over living space, and flexibility of renting, are presented and supported with relevant explanations. However, some arguments feel slightly repetitive, particularly when discussing financial aspects, and certain points are under-developed. For instance, the discussion on passive income is introduced briefly without further elaboration. Despite these minor limitations in full development, the overall response successfully covers the prompt and maintains a clear, consistent stance throughout the essay, aligning well with the Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 profile. Because descriptors require a whole or half band, a score of 6.0 is appropriate for addressing all parts of the task with relevant ideas, even if some sections remain somewhat limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the reasons for home ownership from the counter-arguments regarding renting. The writer employs various cohesive devices to link ideas, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, some cohesive referencing and transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Moving on, owning a property acts as a sarce of income as well' and the fragmented sentence structure 'space. which means'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues in lists and clauses. Overall, the organizational structure is clear and follows a logical sequence, justifying a score of 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'financial security', 'passive income', and 'skyrocketed'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'An contemporary society' instead of 'In', 'sarce' instead of 'source', and 'doesnot' with incorrect apostrophe usage. Furthermore, some phrasing lacks natural collocation or precision, such as 'the most essential of one of the main motivation'. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6, as the vocabulary range is sufficient yet contains recurring mechanical and lexical inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied clause structures, such as conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors and punctuation lapses. Examples include subject-verb agreement and article issues in 'the advantages of owning a house outweighs it's drawbacks' (where 'outweighs' should be plural and 'it's' should be 'its'), fragment errors like 'space. which means', and missing articles. Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout the essay. This balance of mixed structures and persistent non-systematic errors places the grammar firmly at a Band 6 level.
