IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are so many nations which were prefer to live in their own house. This consider as the rich status for someone. Sometimes it become to complicated to not owning house. Some want status so for that they buy house and show off their fake wealth.
Purchasing our own appartment is greate investment because value of land will kept growing and in return it gives double amount of money. Other main cause is that we don't need to pay any loan for house and we can save that found for future plans. If somebody has alot amount for owning a house then for them it become very easy to buy that house. In my country somebody wants to marry their son then they have their own house after that he would be marry. In this senario we need our own property.
If a person is not financially stable then he shouldn't take this risk to own property. For them ranting is the best opition to live their life comfertablly. Ranting is the best option for them who can't afford a house to buy. We can live our life with out any worries. Ranting has it's own benefit because we can explore many places and we can live their.
In conclusion, having our own property is good decition for sometimes but it end up in nagative way sometimes, so in my view this has nagative impact to own our house because in the end it gives stress and burden in our sholders.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt, discussing why home ownership is important (such as social status, investment value, and cultural expectations regarding marriage) and offering a view on whether this is positive or negative, concluding that it often creates unnecessary stress and financial burdens. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding renting and status. The position is stated, but the arguments lack depth and clear structuring. For instance, the point about marriage customs is abrupt and under-developed. Because the ideas are relevant to the prompt but lack full elaboration and extension, the response fits into the Band 5 descriptors for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression of ideas is disjointed. Transitions between sentences and paragraphs can be abrupt or awkward, as seen in the sudden shift from investment value to marriage customs within the second paragraph. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in phrases like 'some want status so for that they buy house.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical links within paragraphs are weak. This level of organisation and cohesion aligns with Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'house', 'buy', 'money', and 'option'. There are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'appartment', 'greate', 'kept growing' instead of 'keep growing', 'alot amount', 'senario', 'ranting' instead of 'renting', 'comfertablly', and 'decition'. These errors and the limited range of vocabulary cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical repertoire, which is characteristic of Band 4.5 to 5.0. Rewarding the successful communication of basic ideas, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the grammar is heavily compromised by frequent errors. There are numerous issues with subject-verb agreement ('There are so many nations which were prefer', 'value of land will kept'), missing articles ('owning house', 'have their own house'), preposition errors ('burden in our sholders'), and awkward phrasing ('Sometimes it become to complicated to not owning house'). While the meaning can generally be discerned, errors are frequent and pervasive across nearly every sentence, causing strain for the reader. This performance aligns best with the Band 4 descriptors, where errors are frequent and often distort meaning or impede fluency.
