Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people agrue that having a personal permenant place that we can call home is better than a renting one and has become a very essential for citizens . From my perspective , i think that this is a positive situation.

Owning a permenant place is very important in some countries because only once money is invested in that land and afterward there is no worrying about shifting or paying rents to the someone else . whereas there are many other positive situation as example , like their are no restriction for having a pet or not bring able to colour the interior or exterior was per wish . Futhermore , it is easily for children to get adapted to one particular area and doesn't affect on their studies.

In Addition, the profit is far more than renting a place because after few years the number is eventually increase as some countries are developing into mega cities , one more of the positive side that can be noticed is if people have or are owning a place they can give to some tenant or make it into a airbnb for other travellers rather than renting for themselves .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by explaining why home ownership is important and stating a clear position that this is a positive situation. However, the student's response contains 238 words, failing to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words. This under-length impacts the full development of ideas. While reasons such as financial investment, stability for children, and rental income are mentioned, they are somewhat generalised and lack deep extension. For instance, the point about Airbnb is introduced briefly without full elaboration. Consequently, the task response is constrained both by word count and limited idea development, aligning with a band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps establish a basic structure, though the final paragraph is incomplete. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'Futhermore', and 'In Addition' are used to link ideas, but their application is sometimes awkward or mechanically forced. Paragraphing is attempted, but the overall progression of ideas feels disjointed at times, particularly in the transition between financial reasons and lifestyle benefits. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'the number is eventually increase', making it difficult to follow what 'number' refers to. Overall, the organisation shows some structure but lacks clear overall progression, fitting the band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and basic. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'investment', 'developing into mega cities', and 'tenant', but struggles with word choice, collocation, and spelling errors like 'agrue', 'permenant', 'Futhermore', and 'conculsion'. Repetition of phrases like 'positive situation' occurs frequently throughout the text. These lexical errors and limitations occasionally cause strain for the reader, though the core meaning remains mostly accessible. This performance reflects a band 5.0 level of lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the number is eventually increase', 'there are many other positive situation'), missing articles ('a renting one'), and incorrect prepositions ('was per wish'). Punctuation and capitalization are also faulty, such as uncapitalized pronouns ('i') and misplaced commas. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of grammatical forms, placing this criterion at a band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 for overall impression.
