Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 163 words. Due to this under-length condition, the task cannot be fully developed. While the student attempts to address both parts of the prompt—explaining why home ownership is important and whether this is a positive or negative situation—the ideas remain extremely limited and underdeveloped. The position is unclear, oscillating between viewing ownership as positive and detrimental. For instance, the writer states 'this is a positive effects' in one paragraph, but immediately contradicts it by claiming 'this is a detremantal problems' in the next. The final sentence trails off unfinished. Consequently, the task response is heavily restricted by length and lack of coherent argument development, fitting the Band 4 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs are fragmented and incomplete, particularly the final sentence which cuts off mid-thought. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with awkward transitions such as 'In begnning' and 'In positive side of owning home'. The relationship between ideas is frequently obscured by poor sentence boundaries and lack of referencing. For example, pronouns are used without clear antecedents, making it difficult to follow the progression of thought. Overall, the structural framework fails to guide the reader smoothly through the argument, aligning closely with a Band 4 performance for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily constrained. The writer relies on simple and often misused terms, such as 'domestics expensivese', 'perfernce', and 'saffering'. There are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'Nowadyas', 'sysytem', 'expensives', and 'prespective'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary result in non-standard phrases that strain the reader's understanding. While some everyday topics are touched upon, the lexical range is inadequate for an academic task, resulting in frequent errors that impede clear communication. This performance reflects the descriptors for Band 4 in lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is severely limited, consisting predominantly of simple or faulty complex sentence structures. There is a high frequency of grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('renting must be increased in per years') and incorrect prepositions ('in renting problems'). Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic, exemplified by sentences starting in lowercase and awkward phrasing like 'the owning home one of the most important'. The sheer density of errors across the short text means that very few error-free sentences exist, often causing significant difficulty for the reader. This corresponds to a Band 4 level of grammatical control.
