IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, people showed preference to living in their owned homes rather than rented ones. That is mainly because house owner ship has numerious benefits over rented properties because of the cost of the living. i beleive it is a postive development as people owing houses tend to show increases satisfaction level in their lives.
Having a house ownership has a wide range of benefits including the cost of living. Accomodation remains costly in most of the cities, Those who have house ownerships are less impacted by price hikes in real estate properties. Overall, world is going through the negative effects of inflation as it affect people's life because necessities such as food, transportation, housing rents are surging day by day. Thus, who own homes have not worry about price hikes.
In contrast, people who lived in rented properties l have to face difficulties including peace and stabilty. For instance, those living in rental house have to keep moving from place to place whichay cause disruption in life. If people change neighbourhood they will more likely to apwnd time searching for destinations including schools. This creates a constant trouble to people moving from one place to another. In my opinion, having home has greater advantage from convenience to more stability in life.
To sum up, ownership to homes provides more stabilty by while, living in rental homes adds stress in people's lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt by explaining reasons for homeownership and giving an opinion on whether this trend is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the explanation regarding the cost of living lacks specific elaboration, jumping straight to general inflation. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 233 words. This under-length impacts the depth of idea development, keeping the task response at Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays a basic overall structure with introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs lack internal cohesion. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as starting sentences with 'Thus, who own homes have not worry' and 'In contrast, people who lived in rented properties l have to face difficulties'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas is occasionally disrupted by mechanical transitions. This places the coherence and cohesion of the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but lacks variety and contains noticeable errors. The student attempts some less common items such as 'house owner ship', 'numerious', and 'accomodation', but these suffer from persistent spelling and word-form errors. Phrases like 'increases satisfaction level' and 'constant trouble' show a limited control of collocation. Because errors such as 'apwnd' (spend) and 'stabilty' (stability) occur and cause occasional strain for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many complex forms contain significant errors. Examples include 'people who lived in rented properties l have to face' and 'Thus, who own homes have not worry about price hikes'. There are frequent grammatical lapses involving tense consistency, auxiliary verbs, and relative clauses, such as 'people showed preference' instead of 'people show a preference'. While meaning is generally retrievable, the density of grammatical errors prevents the response from reaching Band 6.0.
