Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by explaining why home ownership is important and offering a clear personal position that it is a positive development. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. While reasons such as financial strength and peace of mind are introduced, they are under-developed with simplistic explanations and loose examples, such as referencing the UK, Australia, and USA without specific elaboration. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 231 words against the minimum requirement of 250 words, which has negatively impacted the task achievement score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a basic structural organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, fulfilling the fundamental requirements of paragraphing. However, progression is somewhat mechanical and at times difficult to follow due to clunky transitions like "To begin with," "To elaborate," and "To explain." Cohesive devices are often used inappropriately or redundantly, such as repeating the phrase "own home" multiple times in close proximity, which disrupts the natural flow of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs suffers from repetitive phrasing and unclear referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, but it remains limited and repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic terms like "home," "house," "money," and "renting." There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as "renting house" instead of "rented house" or "rental property," "pefer" (spelling error for prefer), "landloards" (landlords), and "possesive for their property." Attempts at less common vocabulary are minimal and often inaccurate, resulting in vocabulary that is just minimally sufficient for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and emerging complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ("in UK, Austrailia and USA"), incorrect pluralization and subject-verb agreement ("which every people can not afford and their savings spent"), and awkward phrasing ("lead health problems" instead of "lead to health problems"). Punctuation and word form errors are persistent. While meaning is generally understandable despite these frequent errors, the high density of mistakes prevents the writing from achieving a higher band score.
