In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

it has been observed that, in few countries owning a home rather than renting one is very significant for individuals. i presume that the benefits of these precautionary action would surpass its drwabacks to a major extent. my position is elaborated further with reasons and relevant examples.

examining the brighter side of, the foremost one is that you also become a landowner because The land on which the house is built that land also you have beacae of that you can do anything in your land you can do what you want. moreover, if you are a owning a home then you also add extra additional facilities like garden, swimming pool and terrace ans that also you can customized according to your requirement so its the biggest advantage to a home owner.

furthormore, the mentioned benefits, people built an asset instead of continuously paying rent and that is also increase a value of house. Families have a permanent place to live and do not worry about landlords ending a tenancy. people can also passed the property to his children. so children's future is safe and secure.

on the contrary, i would not overlook the downsides. to begin with, people want to become a home owner but they dont do because of owning a home they dont have money if he start the EMI of house so he is concern about monthly interest ans all charges or payable amount. house maintenance costs and repairing costs are higher so that type of expensive people cant take it so they dont buy.

In conclusion, the preference for home ownership can be attributed to the financial security, stability and social status that owning a property provides. Although purchasing a home can place a considerable financial burden on individuals, I believe that this is a positive situation overall, as it allows people to build long-term wealth and provides them with a secure place to live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by explaining why home ownership is important and discussing whether it is a positive or negative situation. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. The student develops relevant ideas, such as financial security, freedom to customize, and long-term asset building, along with potential financial downsides. However, some arguments lack full depth and contain colloquial phrasing, such as 'examining the brighter side of' and 'that type of expensive people cant take it'. While all prompt requirements are met, the development remains somewhat repetitive in places, aligning the response with Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'moreover', 'furthermore', and 'on the contrary', but their usage can be mechanical or awkward, as seen in phrases like 'furthormore, the mentioned benefits'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression suffers from run-on sentences and punctuation lapses, such as 'because The land on which the house is built that land also you have beacae of that'. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but overall cohesion is faulty in places, which supports a Band 5.5 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'precautionary action', 'tenancy', and 'financial burden'. However, there are frequent word-choice and spelling errors that detract from the writing, including 'drwabacks', 'beacae', 'ans', 'customized', 'furthormore', and 'passed' instead of 'pass'. Collocations are sometimes unnatural, for example, 'if he start the EMI of house' and 'expensive people cant take it'. Although communication is generally maintained despite these flaws, the density of lexical errors places the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak throughout. There are numerous punctuation errors, missing capitalisation ('i', 'india'), and severe run-on sentences, such as 'The land on which the house is built that land also you have beacae of that you can do anything in your land you can do what you want.' Subject-verb agreement errors and tense inconsistencies are frequent, such as 'people built an asset' and 'if he start the EMI'. Because errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, the grammar profile aligns with Band 5.0.
