Student answer (Band 4.5)

In this essay, I will discuss the topic in detail. The positive and the negative situation are be given in it. In some countries owning a home eather than renting one is very important for people. Some peoples have dream a own home and some cannot afford ths dream. People who argued that owning a home is better than a rented home because it is most of the important thing that having a own home. The rented home always not be yours home it is the ownership of people who gaves you a home for accommodation . In rented home monthly giving a rent to this owner when the rent should not be gives on a time the owner will despicable in front of people and insulted in society. The people who did not takr respect in a society he will never be able to living a life confidentily. In my opinion having own home is much better than rental homes. Doing hard works, facing the difficulties and the hurdles who will block the path. Rented home is good for those people who cannot afford it.

In conclusion, the strong cultural and societal emphasis on homeownership is driven by the universal human desire for financial security. Ultimately, whether this situation is positive or negative depends on economic context: it is highly positive when supported by accessible housing markets, but becomes negative when it breeds inequality and stigmatizes viable alternatives like renting.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main prompt requirements by discussing why homeownership is important and whether this is positive or negative. However, the ideas are often underdeveloped and repetitive, relying on social pressure rather than broader economic factors. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 240 words, which has a negative impact on the task achievement score. While a position is presented, the argumentation remains limited and lacks full extension throughout the body paragraphs. Based on these limitations, the response fits the Band 5 descriptors where the task is addressed only partially and ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay displays basic overall organization with an introduction and conclusion, but the logical progression within the body paragraphs is severely disrupted. Sentences are often disjointed and lack clear semantic links. The paragraphing is weak, and cohesive devices are either absent, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences discussing social stigma and renting. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of arguments smoothly. These features align with the Band 4 descriptors, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently, and progression is difficult to discern.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by major word-choice and collocation errors. Examples such as 'eather' instead of 'either', 'gaves' instead of 'gave', and 'despicable in front of people' demonstrate a very limited control over lexical items. The writer attempts some less common phrasing, but these attempts are generally inaccurate and cause significant strain for the reader. Spelling and morphological errors are frequent. This performance corresponds to Band 4, where vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and errors frequently strain the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting primarily of simple and frequently flawed sentences. There are constant errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency, such as 'Some peoples have dream a own home' and 'when the rent should not be gives on a time'. Complex sentence attempts are heavily error-prone and often distort the intended meaning entirely. Punctuation is also problematic throughout the text. These pervasive errors place the response firmly in Band 4, characterized by very limited grammatical structures and frequent errors that distort meaning.
