Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally and tangentially. While the writer attempts to address both prompts regarding why home ownership is important and whether this is positive or negative, the ideas are severely underdeveloped and lack clear explanations or relevant supporting examples. For instance, the text touches upon business investment and luxury houses, but these points are expressed in a disjointed and repetitive manner. The overall position is somewhat obscured by weak expression and underdeveloped arguments, leading to a response that only partially touches upon the core themes of the task rather than fulfilling all parts adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
Information and ideas are not arranged in a coherent manner throughout the essay. Although the text is broken into paragraphs, the overall progression is extremely difficult to follow due to a lack of logical sequencing and a severe shortage of appropriate cohesive devices. Transition phrases such as 'To initiate the motion' and 'To aggument the motion' are used awkwardly and inappropriately. Furthermore, referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard for the reader to connect pronouns like 'they' and 'this' to their intended antecedents. The overarching structure collapses into a series of disconnected, repetitive statements rather than a unified, logically flowing argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a very limited range of words that frequently strain the reader's comprehension. There are pervasive spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'coloussal', 'upsurge', 'amoung', 'indivisual', 'reagaeding', 'ganing', 'bussiness', 'expance', 'aggument', 'uford', 'luxuary', 'panthouse', 'leve', 'freedomfully', 'eassly', 'coumplete', 'outher', 'destnation', 'decession', and 'pepole'. Word choice is also highly inaccurate, leading to unnatural collocations and phrases that impede clear communication. The writer attempts some less common terms, but these fail due to incorrect forms and inappropriate applications.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of poorly constructed simple and attempted complex sentences that frequently distort meaning. Grammatical errors are highly frequent across the text, including severe issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and faulty clause structures. For example, sentences like 'people like live in rent house beacuse they think this is gppd way for ganing there bussiness because' exhibit complete breakdowns in syntactic structure and punctuation. These frequent errors cause substantial difficulty for the reader and severely limit the complexity and accuracy of the writing.
