Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt minimally, attempting to answer both why homeownership is important and whether it is a positive or negative situation. However, the ideas are severely under-developed and lack clear extension. For instance, the reasons given for the importance of homeownership in the second paragraph focus heavily on superficial points like being able to hang pictures or shout openly, rather than exploring broader financial or cultural motivations. The writer's position can be discerned as generally viewing homeownership positively due to freedom from restrictions, but the lack of fully developed arguments and the repetitive nature of the content restrict the response to a partial treatment of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation in the essay, as it is broken down into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical flow is frequently hindered by mechanical and repetitive use of cohesive devices such as "to begin with" and "on the other hand". Referencing is often unclear, with pronouns like "they" used ambiguously without clear antecedents, making it difficult to follow who is being referred to. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the body paragraphs is inadequate, leading to run-on thoughts and repetitive phrasing.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, frequently straining the reader's ability to understand the intended meaning. Words are often misused or misspelled, such as "importnat", "situtaion", "risrtrictions", and "opleny". There is a reliance on simple, everyday words with very few attempts at less common lexical items, and those that are attempted often contain severe word-form or collocation errors, such as "rent house" instead of "rental property" or "rented house". These noticeable errors and limited lexical range cause significant difficulty for the reader throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic, repetitive patterns that are often strung together incorrectly. Attempts at complex sentences result in frequent errors, run-on structures, and broken syntax, such as "becuase you rhome its peaceful vive you can laugh openly and shouting". There are persistent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and punctuation, with capitalization largely ignored at the beginnings of sentences. These frequent errors disrupt the flow of reading and occasionally distort the meaning of the sentences.
