Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only partially and misunderstands the prompt's premise, suggesting that renting is more important globally rather than exploring why homeownership is culturally or practically valued. The position presented is somewhat confused, and the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that 'buying home wants more fund which is very difficult to make' and that taxes increase the 'burdun of load,' but these points are expressed very simply without adequate extension or supporting details. To move up, the writer needs to directly answer all parts of the prompt with relevant, fully developed ideas and a clear, consistent position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation evident with basic paragraphing and sequencing markers such as 'To commence with' and 'In conclusion,' but there is no clear overall progression of argument throughout the essay. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'renting a home' and basic transitions. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'same as workers they can also rent a room near to there office.' To improve, the writer should ensure logical progression between sentences and paragraphs and use a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately and naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, showing a limited range that barely meets the minimum requirements for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'temperory', 'dificulties', 'burdun of load', and writing 'rent home' instead of 'rental home'. The writer attempts some less common words like 'budget friendly' and 'possibilities', but these are not always used with precision. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and use less common lexical items accurately with appropriate collocations and correct spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement that can cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'buying home wants more fund', 'give the tax of it', 'dose not needs a immense of money', and 'i firmly believes'. Punctuation and word form errors also persist. To progress to the next level, the writer needs to incorporate a wider mix of complex sentence forms with greater accuracy and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
