Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely believed that house is fundamental rights of human beings for their shelter. In some countries, there is many people owning home rather than renting one. I am partially agree with this statements and give a relevant reasons for that.

On the one hand, an individuals who have owning their personal home have a numerous benefits in privacy life and facilities. If a person owning home than he can easily do anythings in their home like making gardens and parking for their personal uses. For instance, in nepal maximum people owning home and they can do anythings what ever they want with their home like they can paints their home with their personal choise. Not only this, they can design their home by their personal interest and don't need to ask with anyone. Thus, being owner of home its feel better and have not worry about rent paid instead they can give their house for rent.

On the other hand, renting a home is far better than owning home because owning home is more expensive and there is lots of difficulties in the process of purchase home in develoed countries like in documentation, tax and duties. So there is need of lot of money whenever you going to owning home. For instance, it is very easy for an individuals to rent a home in any countries and enjoy their life. Renting a home is a easy process where an individuals should pay certain amount on monthly basis. Thus, renting a home in developing countries is beneficials for those who have not enough money.

In conclusion, the positive aspects of owning home is outweigh the negative aspect of renting home in some countries. So owning home in developed countries show an individuals capability and hardwork.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing why homeownership is important and giving an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer introduces the benefits of privacy and customisation, the explanation relies heavily on repetitive examples such as 'making gardens and parking' and painting houses in Nepal. Furthermore, the position is slightly confused in the introduction where the writer states 'I am partially agree with this statements,' yet the conclusion firmly asserts that 'the positive aspects of owning home is outweigh the negative aspect.' To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be fully extended with clearer reasoning and a consistent, well-articulated position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the contrasting views on owning versus renting. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear. The writer relies on basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand,' but internal cohesion within sentences is frequently faulty, such as 'Thus, being owner of home its feel better and have not worry about rent paid instead they can give their house for rent.' Additionally, logical progression stalls due to repetitive phrasing and abrupt shifts between ideas. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive ties more naturally and ensure clearer links between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'fundamental rights,' 'develoed countries,' and 'documentation, tax and duties,' but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word form, spelling, and word choice that cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'house is fundamental rights' instead of 'housing is a fundamental right,' 'individuals who have owning their personal home,' and 'beneficials' instead of 'beneficial.' Spelling mistakes like 'develoed' and 'choise' also detract from the quality of the response. To progress, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, pay closer attention to word forms and collocations, and minimize spelling errors to ensure smoother communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar across the text, particularly with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles. For instance, the writer writes 'there is many people owning home,' 'an individuals who have owning,' and 'whenever you going to owning home,' all of which contain noticeable grammatical slips. Punctuation and preposition use within grammatical patterns also show persistent inaccuracy, such as 'ask with anyone' instead of 'ask anyone.' These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally puzzle over the meaning. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and improve grammatical accuracy across basic and advanced patterns alike.
