IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Like everything has its own advantage and drawbacks, there is no wonder that even this topic lies inside this. Most of the people who recently shift to some new home, prefer being in rent either than owning a house.
Once we purchase a house their will no such things like paying rent on monthly basis or other formal liabilities. But when we observe it closely, actually owining a new house require a large amount of investment, which may create problems for residents, If we look at renting part even it has its own positive and negative side. Scoping at positive side, there is only samll installments needed every month, while other side it is non stop process until we make a decision to leave rented home.
So, we particularly cannot mention which is best and which is not, its all lies within a individual capicity to bear the price. So If i mean myself a great advisior, I would probably say their must be an meainingful approach towards this. Because everyone has their own bearing limit. So, residents like students, bachelors, or workers should probably go or renting, in view of the fact that they are at thier initial stage of life and people who has their own family, or and proper adult should go for home since most of them all bundle of assets.
In the end as i mentioned before, a correct and formal approach thowards this problem can take you to the proper conslusion, without any dilemma.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to answer both parts of the prompt regarding why owning a home is important and whether this situation is positive or negative, the ideas are quite limited and under-developed. For instance, the statement 'Most of the people who recently shift to some new home, prefer being in rent either than owning a house' contradicts the premise of the prompt and reflects confusion regarding the main trend. The student mentions points such as 'large amount of investment' and 'small installments', but these ideas lack sufficient explanation, extension, and clear organization. The position is not always clear, with generalizations made about students and adults without robust support. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully explore both questions with well-supported arguments and relevant examples throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organization present in the text, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The response is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow between ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing shifts in focus. For example, moving abruptly from discussing monthly rent to investment problems without adequate linking devices creates a disjointed reading experience. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively or inaccurately, as seen with phrases like 'Scoping at positive side' and 'So If i mean myself a great advisior'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact line of argument. To improve cohesion, the writer should ensure that every paragraph has a clear central topic and use a wider range of appropriate cohesive links to guide the reader smoothly from one idea to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource displayed is limited, providing a minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. The student uses basic and repetitive terms such as 'home', 'house', 'positive', and 'negative'. There are also noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, including 'shift' instead of 'move', 'owining', 'samll', 'meainingful', and 'thowards'. Furthermore, phrases like 'bundle of assets' and 'bearing limit' are unnatural and imprecise. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, incorporate less common lexical items accurately, and pay closer attention to spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple constructions. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to a high frequency of grammatical errors. Examples of issues include subject-verb agreement problems ('owining a new house require'), incorrect verb forms ('there is no such things', 'there must be an meainingful approach'), and awkward prepositional or clausal patterns ('either than owning', 'go or renting'). Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent throughout the text. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. To progress, the writer needs to practice constructing accurate complex sentences, improve control over basic verb tenses and agreements, and refine punctuation.
