In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 4.5)
It is true some countires owning a home rather than reanting one is better there reasident . Becuse this countrics porperty are expensive and there income is not good . Those countries people thinks this I agree with those and totale i think it is a positive .
On the one hand , a great number of merits come from this affair in many ways . The first and foremosst point is that property rate high thats why this country local reasident can not afford own home . Easly understand i give example some country this type property very expensive like Amarica , Australia and England this country people don not have a significant amount many they buy proprty . As a result they living reant house .
Further more , law income country like asian country is a law ecomonic country this country job salaries a small amount give government . We can see that there market and shope price very high they can not cover there basic need how tise country population make a own home they only afford a normal reanting home . Another point thise country also job crises . But won home have some good points like save your monthly reant payment anther point won home live safe better than rant house .
Conculison, to sum up , having illustrated both sides of this affair , I would like to state my oponion that I strongly agree with this statement as it comes up with a good number of merits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer attempts to answer both parts of the prompt regarding why owning a home is important and whether this situation is positive or negative, the ideas are very limited and under-developed. The position is stated briefly as a positive one, but it lacks sufficient elaboration and clear supporting arguments throughout the body paragraphs. For instance, the mention of countries like America, Australia, and England, or low-income Asian countries, remains superficial with generalisations about property prices and job crises rather than fully explored socioeconomic factors. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure all parts of the prompt are thoroughly explored, presenting well-developed, extended arguments with specific, relevant explanations and clear examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay displays some organisation with paragraph breaks and basic linking words such as 'On the one hand', 'Further more', and 'Conculison, to sum up', but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, and referencing is often unclear, which disrupts the logical flow. For example, transitional phrases like 'Easly understand i give example' feel mechanical and do not connect sentences smoothly. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical sequencing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly. To improve in this area, the writer should focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical progression from a central topic sentence to supporting details.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word formation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts to use less common items, such as 'significant amount' and 'economic country', but these attempts are often inaccurate, resulting in awkward phrases like 'law income country' instead of low-income country and 'reasident' instead of residents. Spelling errors are frequent throughout the response, including words like 'countires', 'reanting', 'porperty', 'foremosst', and 'oponion'. To move up to the next band, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, pay closer attention to word formation and collocations, and significantly improve accuracy in basic spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is limited, consisting primarily of simple sentences and flawed attempts at more complex structures. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text that cause difficulty for the reader, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and faulty verb tenses. For example, sentences such as 'Becuse this countrics porperty are expensive and there income is not good' and 'how tise country population make a own home' demonstrate persistent structural inaccuracies. Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect spacing around commas and periods. To achieve a higher score, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic grammatical structures, reduce the frequency of fundamental sentence-level errors, and successfully incorporate a wider variety of accurate complex sentence forms.
