IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is a trend going on where people love owning their house rather than renting one, in many nations it is crucial for people to owning a independant house instead of renting. This might be because there are two different scenerios for this firstly, renting is more expensive and people cannot afford this, while the other reason is some individual feels safe in their own house. In my personal opinion, it is a positive situation for them.
In many countries, live on someone's house is way more expensive than buying their own independent space for living, some people are not able to earn much and the house where they live is not affordable for them, but the land price of that particular country is lower and easy to purchase. For instance, In Japan living on lease is like give half of their income to the lessor, while there are several parts in japan which is abandoned no is living there and price of the houses are there very cheap.
Another factor to note is most of the individuals believe that own house is far safer than renting one, violanance create due to rent and other reasons by lessor is also the reason. For instance in recent survey in india held by a NGO, where it was seen that fights between owner and tenant was higher in numbers due to several reasons some are for the payment and some are for advance installment.
To conclude, renting is not for the people who loves to live in peace

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that people may prefer ownership because renting is costly and because owning a home feels safer, and you state that this is positive. These points are relevant, but the explanation and support remain limited, which is why the response only partially fulfils the task. The claim that buying is cheaper is not clearly reconciled with your example of low-priced abandoned houses in Japan, and the safety argument relies mainly on disputes between landlords and tenants rather than explaining the broader benefits of ownership. Your conclusion, “renting is not for the people who loves to live in peace,” is also too absolute and does not clearly restate why the situation is positive. Develop each reason and make the overall position more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the two main reasons are separated into different paragraphs. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph combines the cost of renting, low earnings and land prices without making their relationship clear. Linking phrases such as “firstly,” “while,” and “Another factor to note” help signal the organisation, but some connections feel mechanical or do not clarify the logic. The examples also need clearer links to the claims they are intended to support. Improve cohesion by presenting one main point at a time, explaining it, and then showing explicitly how the example supports it; use referencing carefully to avoid unclear phrases such as “that particular country.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to housing and the topic, including “renting,” “lessor,” “tenant,” “payment,” and “advance installment.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning harder to understand. For example, “live on someone's house” does not express living in a rented property, and “violanance create due to rent” is unclear. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “independant,” “scenerios,” and “viol anance” (written as “violanance”). Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more complicated wording: use phrases such as “rent a property,” “housing costs,” and “disputes between landlords and tenants.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms will make your ideas easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “For instance” and a contrast introduced with “while.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction can make the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “it is crucial for people to owning,” “some individual feels,” and “the house where they live is not affordable for them.” The final sentence, “the people who loves,” also has a subject–verb agreement error. Several sentences run together or contain incomplete structures, particularly the survey example beginning “where it was seen.” Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with accurate agreement and punctuation.
