IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It totally depands on the individual's priorities and life style choices.some people saves their capital for years to build a house, and on the other hand there are people who just rent a house and spend their money on trevelling or buying cars etc.
from my perspective owning house is somthing which gives you the sense of sustainabilty and the feel of blongingness.there are many positive aspect of having your own home like you can fully take the ownership so no one can question your decissions regarding anything you wanted to change in your house for instince there are many apying guest who really want to decorate their rented housed but they couldent because their land lords are not allowing them to do.
moreover, in present time where the money matters alot people should little mindfull when it come to renting. we can save a huge amount with having own house and not giving as rent on monthly bases. also owning house is a mindset which belives on sustainable life style, the peoples who prefare living on rent have to be in the cycle of moving and changing, they never couldnt get the own address, they keep changing their homes because of different kind of issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that home ownership offers stability and control over the property, and you present it as positive compared with renting. The example of tenants being unable to decorate helps illustrate the benefit of ownership. However, the reasons why owning a home is important in some countries are only partly explained, and the discussion of renting focuses mainly on moving and monthly costs. Your opening comment about different priorities does not establish a clear position immediately, and the conclusion is missing. The response is also 45 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. Explain the cultural or financial reasons more fully and state your view clearly throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response moves from differing housing choices to the benefits of ownership, and connectors such as “moreover” and “also” signal additional points. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The opening shifts between saving capital, renting, travel and cars without showing how these points answer why ownership matters in some countries. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly the example about tenants wanting to decorate, making relationships between points harder to follow. Paragraphing is limited, and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the argument together. Use a clear structure—reasons for the preference, your evaluation, and a conclusion—and connect each example directly to the main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “ownership,” “sustainable lifestyle,” “monthly” rent and “landlords,” so the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “depands,” “trevelling,” “sustainabilty” and “blongingness.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “save a huge amount with having own house” and “get the own address” do not communicate the ideas idiomatically. Aim for accurate collocations such as “build financial security,” “have greater control over their property,” and “a stable place to live.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more precise phrases would make your argument easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason introduced by “because” and a contrast between owners and renters. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand the meaning. For example, “some people saves” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “people should little mindfull” lacks a grammatical structure. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent: “owning house” needs an article, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters or run together after full stops. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles and punctuation. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would help communicate your ideas before you attempt longer structures.
