In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nowdays. In some countries people like think it is more important to buy a house then to rent one. There are serval reason behind this and im my opinon. there aresome positive and negative points accourding to situation.
owning is more important for cultural and financial reasons.most peple like own house. because all people respect him. in my country mojerty peple own house. because its a long term security.in case house damge and then apperas new house in my self so not bad it is good points for future it is increse money day by days. but rrny house so difficult every month 30 and 40 thousand pay for house own .so it a waste money and no future plan.may be after 2 months and 3 months increse the rent so many diffuclt in this case and then pack all thnigs then new search rnt house,no any freedom in rent house .rent house not decouration in my own becasue it is rent house. children not benfits coming future its just a time waste and money own dont respect for poor people. own always just order for rent and new high price but its so hardly, some negative majore points heavy financial burden buying a house neeed a oan young people 20 to 25 years just pay loan installment so hard point in this time.and 2 point incase i am here in one city and my job is second city so money waste time and money every month pay rent house and rent house . althouhgh owning a house gives just security making it is soical compulsion puts unnecessary finanical perssure on people so i think it negative development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both parts of the question: you suggest cultural and financial reasons for preferring ownership, and you conclude that the situation is negative because it can create financial pressure. Examples such as rent increases, lack of freedom in a rented home, and long-term loan payments are relevant. However, the position is not consistently clear: you describe ownership as providing security and increasing wealth, then call the overall situation negative, without fully explaining why the disadvantages outweigh those benefits. Several points are also difficult to interpret or remain undeveloped, including the reference to respect and the example of working in another city. Explain each main reason more clearly and support your final judgement with a direct comparison of the benefits and drawbacks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to group related ideas, moving from reasons for ownership to disadvantages such as rent costs and mortgage pressure. Some linking expressions, including “because,” “but,” and “although,” show how you intend to connect points. However, the response has no clear paragraph structure, and ideas often run together in long strings, making the progression difficult to follow. For example, the discussion shifts from security and house damage to rent increases, children, social respect, and loans without clear transitions. Repeated use of “and” and “so” does not show the relationship between all these points. Organise the response into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for reasons and evaluation, and a conclusion; use clear topic sentences and refer back to each idea explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “long term security,” “financial burden,” “loan installment,” and “social compulsion.” These choices show an effort to discuss both practical and social aspects of home ownership. However, the usable range is limited and many words or phrases are repeated, especially “rent house,” “money,” and “difficult.” Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices—such as “decouration,” “mojerty,” and “waste money”—sometimes make the intended meaning hard to understand. Some combinations are also unnatural, for example “increse money day by days.” Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For instance, describe rent as “a recurring expense” and ownership as “a long-term investment,” rather than relying on repeated general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make some attempts to connect clauses and express cause and contrast, using forms such as “because,” “but,” and “although.” However, sentence structures are mostly basic, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce incomplete or faulty sentences. For example, “most peple like own house. because all people respect him” contains a sentence fragment and an unclear pronoun reference. In “so i think it negative development,” the verb pattern is incomplete, while missing sentence boundaries and inconsistent capitalisation make the response harder to read. Work first on complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then practise joining related ideas with accurate conjunctions. Check articles, verb forms, and punctuation, and avoid placing a full stop before a dependent clause such as “because.”
