Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that people want to avoid monthly rent and the risk of a landlord asking them to leave, and you state that home ownership is positive. You also give relevant benefits, such as being able to decorate a home and potentially sell it later. However, the reasons are mostly listed rather than explained, and some points are difficult to follow—for example, the claim that house prices may rise is not clearly connected to why ownership matters to people. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make your positive judgement more explicit and consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs about reasons and benefits, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main topic. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: ideas run together, and several points are repeated, especially the need to avoid rent and the feeling of safety. Linking is also limited, so relationships between ideas are not always clear. For instance, the discussion moves from a landlord asking tenants to leave to rising house prices without a clear transition. Organise each paragraph around one main point, use clear sentence boundaries, and connect supporting details with simple, accurate linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-form errors that sometimes make the message difficult to understand. Repeated words such as “house,” “hard,” and “happy” limit precision, while phrases such as “a positive solution” and “our families protect and save” do not express the intended meaning naturally. You do communicate some relevant concepts, including rent, freedom, permission, and furniture, but the range is narrow and collocations are often inaccurate. Build a topic vocabulary for housing and practise using it in accurate phrases, such as “financial security,” “housing costs,” and “make changes to the property.” Proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty sentences. For example, “because trying hard worked in office try to own house” lacks a clear subject and correctly formed verbs, while “they do not have to worry … telling them to leave” does not form a complete, controlled sentence in context. Errors with articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries occur throughout, making some meanings hard to follow. There is little accurate use of complex structures. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with “because” or “although.” Check that each sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
