IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In most of countries people's have their own houses in which they live with their whole families because they think it is very important to have their own house . They think it play a very important part in the life of their family future . i also think it is a positive development and many people agreed on this .
accordding to the first school of thought many people take it a positive development and it also has many benefits such as more comfortability , more security and freedom of changings .For Example ; when you have your own house you feel more comfortable in the area of your house and aslo you feel more secure in the boundary of your house and also you have the freedom of doing anything without anyone permission and make any changings .
Accordding to the second school of thought many people's not agree about it because they have some different types of reasons such as no budget friendly , more expenses and also high repairing cost . For Example ; when a person has not not enough money so it is very defficult for him to buy his own house and also when a person has not the ability to meet the expenses of the house so he shifted on rented apartments and aslo some many who also not have a little money to repair anything in their houses he also want to live in apartment .
accordding to my oppinion owning you own house is a great blessing from allah . when you have the oppournity to have your own house you want to take it and thanks to allah for this type of blessing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view that owning a home is positive, and you identify relevant reasons such as comfort, security, freedom to make changes, affordability, expenses, and repair costs. However, the task asks why home ownership is especially important in some countries, and this cultural or social context is not really explained. The response also shifts into a “first” and “second school of thought” structure, presenting disadvantages without clearly connecting them to why people value ownership. Your final paragraph expresses a personal view, but it mainly repeats that owning a home is a blessing rather than developing the reasons. Explain the country-specific motivations and support each main point with fuller, more precise examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas are generally grouped by topic, and examples are introduced to illustrate comfort and financial difficulty. However, progression is limited, and the repeated openings “according to the first school of thought” and “according to the second school of thought” make the organisation feel formulaic. Some links are unclear, particularly the move from the benefits of ownership to the disadvantages, and the conclusion does not draw the discussion together. Several sentences also run on, while repeated “and also” links make relationships between points less precise. Use topic sentences that directly answer the prompt, then connect each example clearly to its main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words, including “security,” “freedom,” “expenses,” and “repairing cost,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, vocabulary is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “more comfortability,” “freedom of changings,” “no budget friendly,” and “a great blessing from allah.” Spelling errors such as “accordding,” “defficult,” and “oppournity” are noticeable, and repeated words such as “house” and “also” reduce variety. These issues sometimes make the reader work to interpret your meaning. Build a more accurate range of housing and finance vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations; for example, use “affordable” rather than “budget friendly” in this context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and examples, but the range is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “They think it play” and “many people’s not agree”; the latter also has an incorrect possessive construction. Articles and sentence structure are problematic in phrases such as “in most of countries” and “when a person has not not enough money.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and long sentences joined mainly with “and.” These errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences using clear clauses, full stops, and correctly placed commas.
