Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You attempt to address both why home ownership matters and whether this is positive or negative. The points about a “tension free life,” savings, and the freedom to customise a home are relevant, and the final idea about belonging and family begins to explain the appeal. However, the response does not clearly state whether you consider this situation positive or negative, and several points—such as people moving for work and scammers using rented apartments—are not connected clearly to the question. The ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported. The response is also 164 words, below the required 250; this limits how fully you can develop both parts of the task. A clear position and fuller explanations of the reasons are needed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to move from reasons for buying to reasons for renting, followed by a point about psychological benefits. Linking words such as “Furthermore” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one paragraph, and the progression is difficult to follow: the discussion shifts from financial cost to mobile workers, then scammers, without clear links between these points. Some references are also unclear, as in “People thinks who lives a tention free life.” Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the reasons, and a conclusion stating your view. Use linking phrases to show how each example supports the main point, rather than relying on abrupt transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You try to use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “location,” “work,” “autonomy,” “customize,” and “belonging to a community.” The final sentence also attempts more abstract language about a home being more than shelter. However, much of the vocabulary is basic or inaccurately formed, and spelling errors often make the intended meaning harder to understand: “discuse,” “rether,” “prafer,” “scamer,” and “fome ownership.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “buy a new own house” and “ran easy.” Build accuracy with common topic collocations before attempting more elaborate phrasing—for example, “purchase a home,” “housing costs,” and “a sense of security.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes some attempts at longer structures, such as “some busy peoples who prafer rented houses, because they change location…” and the final explanation beginning “For many.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or incorrectly joined, and the range of reliably controlled forms is limited. Examples include “I thing some people buy a new own house for live,” “People thinks,” and “house is more then a shelter.” These show problems with verb forms, subject–verb agreement, infinitives, and articles. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention, particularly where several ideas run together. Practise writing clear simple sentences first, then combine them using accurate clauses and conjunctions; check agreement, articles, and verb patterns during revision.
