Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response attempts both parts of the question: it suggests that people may want a home because renting can be difficult, and it expresses a mixed view, saying the situation depends on whether it is positive or negative. However, the reasons are not clearly explained, and the position remains uncertain rather than answering directly whether home ownership is generally positive or negative. The discussion of government involvement and people’s ability to live comfortably is difficult to follow and is not developed with clear examples. The response contains 194 words, so it is 56 words below the 250-word minimum; 8 words copied from the prompt were not counted. To strengthen the answer, state a clear overall view and explain two relevant reasons with specific support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into separate paragraphs, and some linking expressions, such as “So” and “In this situation,” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow: the opening about countries providing rooms does not lead clearly into the discussion of renting, and the final paragraph introduces opportunities and family life without a clear connection to the earlier points. Several sentences contain multiple ideas without showing how they relate. Use a simple structure—reasons for preferring ownership, followed by your evaluation—and make each paragraph focus on one main point. Clearer links between claims and explanations would help the reader follow the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The response uses basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “owning a home,” “rent,” “government,” and “family members,” so the general subject can be identified. It also attempts some less common expressions, such as “sustainable,” but this does not fit the intended meaning in “It is very sustainable and easy for a people.” Repeated use of “situation,” “people,” and “life activities” limits precision, while spelling and word-form errors such as “hose,” “mange,” “hardles,” and “vey” make parts harder to understand. Build a more accurate topic vocabulary and check collocations: for example, “pay the rent,” “housing costs,” and “financial security” would express the ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response attempts both short statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “if situation have in positive,” but control of sentence forms is limited. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and pronouns occur throughout, as in “people could not give the rent,” “owner did not mange it,” and “the situation are negative.” Some sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret, particularly “Countries give a room for residents or tourist furthermore in European countries…” Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention, especially where ideas run together. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clear clauses using “because,” “if,” and “although.” Check that subjects and verbs agree and that pronouns consistently refer to the intended people.
