IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Home is a place where people spent most of time and we can also called it is the place where people feel relaxed after spending whole day outside for job or any other work.
As per my prespective in contries like India, Nepal or in Middle Asia home is not only where people live, they have emotential attatchement also. Home is a thing which is transferable generation to generation.
Peoples have their family member memories and the time which they spend together.
If we talk in monetery terms, some expert belives that during buying home a not a good decision in today's scnerio where inflaction rates are high and FD and RD rate of return is note same as inflaction.
They believe that purchasing a land is a appreciating decision as compare to apartment. Elders also believe that land and gold value always will increase but not sure about apartment or flat. During buying a new house we can see neibhourhood, parks, amenities also. As all the mentioned things are necessary with your house. Vastu direction is also plays a vital role in new purchasing. As per hinduism in my country people do not prefer south direction flat, so as compare to other direction south direction plot or flats are 10-15 % cheaper also.
As every coins has two sides, in this also if you buy on flat than you save rent for years but givinf EMI's and if you are renting a apartment than in starting rent amount will be less but if we see in long term prespective you will not be the owner of that flat by paying rent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both why home ownership matters and whether it is positive or negative, but the response only partially fulfils the task because your position is not stated clearly or consistently. Emotional attachment, family memories and the wish to own an asset are relevant reasons, while the final comparison of buying and renting begins to address your view. However, the discussion of inflation, investment returns, Vastu and cheaper south-facing properties takes up space without clearly explaining whether the overall situation is positive or negative. Develop two main reasons and support each with a clear explanation or example, then state and maintain your judgement throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has some paragraphing and a broadly recognisable movement from the meaning of home to financial considerations and then buying versus renting. However, progression is uneven: the long middle paragraph shifts among investment returns, land, amenities and Vastu without showing how each point supports the answer. Linking phrases such as “As per my perspective” and “As every coins has two sides” signal transitions, but some connections are mechanical or unclear, and the final paragraph does not provide a firm conclusion. Organise the essay into a clear introduction, focused body paragraphs and a concluding position. Use topic sentences and make each paragraph develop one central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “emotional attachment,” “inflation rates,” “rate of return,” “neighbourhood” and “amenities.” This gives you some ability to discuss both personal and financial reasons for ownership. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “prespective,” “monetery,” “scnerio” and “appreciating decision.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “transferable generation to generation” and “save rent for years.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for housing and finance. More precise phrasing will help your ideas sound clearer and more natural without relying on repeated general words such as “home” and “thing.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional comparison of buying and renting, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur in examples such as “we can also called it is the place” and “Vastu direction is also plays a vital role.” Agreement and articles are also problematic in “some expert believes” and “during buying home.” Several sentences are fragments or are joined in ways that obscure the relationship between ideas, including “As all the mentioned things are necessary with your house.” Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and practise forming accurate complex sentences with “because,” “although” and “while.” Punctuation can also help separate the points in the long middle paragraph.
