IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Home is very important thing for all the living being in the world because without the shelter the person life is become very difficult and yet this is decline in many countries. In my opnion this trend can bring some negative consequences as some positive consequnces in all over the world.
there are many reasons why owning the home is very important because owning a home is symbol of success, security and family success. For example in many countries like pakistan india the parents give the home to the married childern to show the stability of the family and also in the future they economically and finanacially stable in the country and less pressure for the future. for example in my own city i can saw that the people how cannot own house thet face many problems.
i think this is also negative trend beacuse the pressure for buying the house for the young generation is make a stress they causes many health problems adults also discourage due to the renting house. it brings negative impact on the young people as economically and as a career develement people stuck in the one thing cannot move to another thing . and also the owning home stress the adult stuck in to the huge debut pressure and long term problems and they also set the limits on the things of the people
to conclude that i can say that this is a negative to owning a hosue because this put people in many problems bescause adult become an obession with owning house. they destroy people phsically and mently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that home ownership represents “success, security” and family stability, then give a clear overall view that it is negative because of financial and personal pressure. The examples about parents providing homes for married children and the stress of buying a house are relevant. However, the explanation of why ownership matters is brief, and the positive and negative consequences are not developed evenly; the opening also says the trend has both positive and negative consequences, while the conclusion gives only a negative judgement. Clarify your position from the start and explain each main reason with a specific consequence or example. This would make the response more complete and its ideas less limited.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about reasons for ownership, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your answer. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: several points are joined in long strings, particularly in the paragraph beginning “i think this is also negative trend.” The repeated use of “and also” and “for example” does not always show clearly how one idea relates to the next. Some references, such as “this” and “they,” are also unclear. Use shorter sentences, organise each paragraph around one central point, and use linking expressions selectively to show cause, contrast, and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “security,” “stability,” “stress,” and “financially,” and you attempt to express ideas about economic pressure and career choices. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “family success,” “the people how cannot own house,” and “huge debut pressure.” Spelling errors, including “opnion,” “consequnces,” and “mently,” are also noticeable. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing housing and its effects, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise collocations would help you communicate your ideas without the reader having to infer your meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “the person life is become very difficult” has problems with the subject and verb forms, while “the pressure for buying the house for the young generation is make a stress” has an unclear grammatical structure. Articles and plurals are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “owning a home is symbol” and “the married childern.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns or become run-ons. Practise forming accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses for reasons and examples. Check verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries when editing.
