In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

All across the world people have different opportunities of having both rental home or owning a home. It all depend upon citizens own wealth which allows them to live with in own or by rent. Owners of houses can survive easily rather than others because it saves both investment and property .

Purchasing our house for self is very benefial for all inhabitants around the world. Even it does'nt require any kind of slavery. The owner is the king of his own place. This is a positive sitaution at all because it can help a lot for those people who wants to make their own construction. It is the fastest step to secure themselfs in urban or rural area permamently. For instance, nobody can remove you from your house without your permission.

Living in rental area is not recommeded because it has many side effects such as cost issues it need more income to fulfill their house expenses such as home rent , taxes which refers directly from the pocket of user it dosent give you enogh time to engage themselfs as the space

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You take a clear position that home ownership is positive and give relevant reasons, including security and not being removed from one’s home without permission. However, the response only partially addresses the question: it does not explain in enough detail why owning a home is especially important in some countries, and the comparison with renting is left unfinished. The point about rental costs is introduced but not developed into a clear explanation or example. The response is also 66 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop both parts of the task. To strengthen your answer, explain the cultural, financial, or social reasons behind the preference, then support your positive or negative judgement with developed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from a general introduction to reasons for ownership and then begins a paragraph about renting. Your position is also identifiable. However, the overall progression is incomplete, particularly because the final paragraph ends mid-idea (“as the space”), so the comparison and conclusion are not brought together. Connections between points are sometimes unclear, and phrases such as “Even” and “because” do not always establish the intended relationship smoothly. Use a clear paragraph plan—reasons for the preference, evaluation of its effects, and a conclusion—and make each paragraph develop one main point. Complete sentences and clearer links between examples and claims would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “investment,” “property,” “secure,” and “expenses,” and phrases such as “the owner is the king of his own place” communicate your view. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “rental home,” “make their own construction,” and “living in rental area.” Spelling errors, including “benefial,” “sitaution,” and “recommeded,” also make the writing less clear and reduce control. Aim to use precise housing-related expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, describe the financial or personal security of ownership directly, rather than relying on broad or awkward phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “It all depend upon citizens own wealth,” where the verb and possessive structure are incorrect, and “those people who wants,” where subject–verb agreement is faulty. The sentence beginning “Living in rental area is not recommended because…” runs on and does not reach a complete grammatical ending. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with subordinate clauses. Check agreement, articles, and punctuation, and ensure every sentence has a complete main clause.
