Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify a negative view of home ownership and mention possible reasons people value owning a property, such as having privacy and being able to make changes without permission. However, the response does not clearly explain why ownership is especially important in some countries, and the discussion shifts repeatedly between owning and renting without establishing a consistent argument. The point about buying a home for children and parents is relevant, but it is not explained, while examples about students moving abroad and feeling lonely do not clearly support the stated position. The conclusion repeats that renting can cause difficulties rather than directly resolving both parts of the question. Develop two relevant reasons and explain how each supports your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic essay shape, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. These divisions give the reader some sense of structure. However, the ideas within paragraphs are not arranged in a clear progression, and the contrast between the two sides is difficult to follow: the second paragraph begins by discussing the difficulty of renting, then suggests renting can provide facilities. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore” are used, but they do not consistently show the relationship between ideas. Some sentences are also difficult to connect to the surrounding point. Group related reasons together and use clear topic sentences and references to make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “owning a home,” “renting,” “landlord,” “property,” and “facilities,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and inaccurate word choice or collocation often makes the intended meaning unclear. For example, “rest easily at their home,” “provide holding home,” and “practical activity at their lanlord” do not express ideas naturally. There are also spelling and word-form problems, such as “rater,” “perfome,” and “becasue.” Build a more precise set of phrases for explaining ownership, security, privacy, and flexibility, and check that each verb or noun fits its context. This would make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including clauses beginning with “which” and “because,” but control is limited and errors frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “I completely agree this situation,” “Owning home may allows,” and “many student wants,” where clause structure, verb forms, or agreement are faulty. Articles and sentence construction are also inconsistent, as in “buying the house” and “they can activity perfome their home.” Some sentences contain several ideas without clear grammatical links, particularly the example beginning “For example, when people holding their home.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one well-formed subordinate clause. Check articles, agreement, and verb forms carefully when revising.
