IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In modern day's people are owing the house for living rather then living in renteal house. I thick it is a positive side to purchase a house rather then living in the rantal duce to privacy and freedom.
To bgine with, there are a lot of reasons that over shadow the negative side. To expalin it, as we well kown about the living in the renting house is the difficult because of there rules and regulation it can strict your privacy world but when you live in your own house you can get some perivacy. Similarly, when you own the house you can do grew the plant in the ground and enjoy the natural vegetable where you grew form your house, if you lived in the renting a house then you cannot enjoy and force to follow the rules.
On the othere hand, there are some people who where the side of negative way to living in the house. To elaborate, if the people are lived in the reantal houses then it hepls to protect the enviroment, if people living in the rental houses due to those metrals who's used for build the house it will use for the development work, As we kown that people has diffrerent mind set and it can be a better chance for rape case due to renting the apartment.
To sum up, in many contry's owing a home rather then reanting one because of veriouse kind of situation like privicy and freedom.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall preference for owning a home and identify privacy and freedom as reasons, which addresses the main direction of the question. However, the explanation of why home ownership is important in some countries is only partly developed, and the negative paragraph is unclear: the claim that renting protects the environment is not explained, while the reference to “rape case” is difficult to connect to the argument. The conclusion repeats the preference but does not fully summarise the reasoning. The response also falls two words short of the required minimum. Develop each reason with a clear explanation or example, and make sure both parts of the prompt are answered directly and consistently. This would make the response more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “To begin with” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the broad stages of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links between ideas are difficult to follow. For example, the move from rental-house rules to growing vegetables needs a clearer explanation, while the environmental point and the later reference to crime do not form a clear sequence. Connectors such as “Similarly” and “To elaborate” are used, but they cannot compensate for unclear relationships between claims. Organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain and support it before moving to the next idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “privacy,” “freedom,” “rules and regulation,” and “protect the environment.” These choices show an effort to discuss ownership and renting, but the range is limited and frequent spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “renteal,” “perivacy,” “enviroment,” and “metrals,” as well as the unclear phrase “privacy world.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “do grew the plant” and “the side of negative way.” Focus on accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose straightforward wording when unsure. More precise phrases such as “personal privacy” and “follow the landlord’s rules” would make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences using clauses introduced by “when,” “if,” and “because,” so there is some variety in sentence structure. However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and these sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. For instance, “people are lived in the rental houses” has an incorrect verb form, and “it can strict your privacy” does not use the verb correctly. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, while the final sentence lacks a complete, well-formed explanation. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and articles when editing.
