IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many countries buying a home rather than living in others home is very important for people. I completly agree with this statement of person should first buy their house or home for making their easier and relax. It has pros and cons having home than staying in rental place.
Owning your home is the best option to make your life much easier because person don't have to worry about being out of that place. For example, I am living in my own house and which make me feel so confident and relaxed because I can do what ever I want to do. Whether, decorating walls with paints, install light and building house more structural. But there are disadvantages, because the person have care for their house properly and give all taxes to goverments such as house insurane and residential area tax.
On the other hand, living in a rental home cause negative situation because they will stuck in a period when I will be removed from this house. It is because, the owner of the home might think to live at there and give notification to person to leave, this make more stress and anxiety for them where they can move. For instance, one of my friend was living in shared room and he lived their for atleast two year, and he got removed because owner's family decided to stay, which cause trouble for him.
In conclusion, Owning home have a lots benefits with low difficulties. I strongly believe that owning home is the best way to make your life easier rather than living in renting area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear view that owning a home is preferable, and you support it with relevant points about security, freedom to decorate, and the uncertainty of renting. The example of your friend being asked to leave also helps illustrate the stress renters may face. However, the task asks both why home ownership is especially important in some countries and whether this is positive or negative. Your response mainly explains why ownership is convenient and gives little attention to why this preference exists in particular countries, such as cultural expectations or investment concerns. The disadvantages of ownership are mentioned but not developed, and the positive/negative judgement could be stated more directly and consistently. Develop these missing aspects with explanation and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs about ownership and renting, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from the security of owning a home to the instability of renting, and examples are placed near the points they support. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. At times, however, the connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening says there are “pros and cons,” but the discussion does not maintain a balanced comparison, and “Whether” does not introduce a clear relationship to the preceding sentence. Some references, such as “this” in “this make more stress,” are also unclear. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “confident,” “relaxed,” “stress,” “anxiety,” and “notification.” There are also attempts to express specific concepts, such as being “removed” from a rental home and paying housing-related taxes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “living in others home,” “rental place,” “building house more structural,” and “living in renting area.” Spelling errors such as “completly,” “goverments,” and “insurane” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of housing expressions and check spelling; prefer natural phrases such as “rental accommodation,” “property taxes,” and “be asked to move out.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in the example about your friend. This shows some variety, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. For example, “person don't have to worry” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Owning home have a lots benefits” has problems with articles, agreement, and plural forms. The sentence “I am living in my own house and which make me feel” is also structurally faulty, and “the owner … might think to live at there” is not well formed. Practise accurate sentence patterns, especially articles, agreement, verb forms, and clause construction, before adding more complex structures.
