In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Owning a home is a dream of every commomn person in this world. It is a feeling of happiness, joy and pleasure.Home provides you a security, future as well as meomories.
But owning a home in many countries rather than renting an apartment is quesionable.
The answer could be different for many countries.I support this idea in country like India.
Personal home provides finanacial security, stability and personl freedom too.
Perhaps, this has many pros and cons.
Looking forward to financial security, buying home is quite impressive idea especially in cities like Mumbai,Pune,Benglore etc. This is a great investment as prices are alway increases in this cities and you can get quite good returns after many years.
The secons is stability. Many citizens get frustated because unstable life in city. The people who dont own a home always lives in fear that there home owner will tell the, to shift any other house for any reason. Also getting from one place to another with family in same city is also headache and challanging. So owning a home even if could be small will be always beneficial in such cases. The personal freedom and peace of mind is most essential part plays key role in own apartment. You can do changes like interior or exterior, structure here. Also you can design garden, add new plants of your choice which rented apartment doesent allow.
Turning to the other side, it could be problamatic if your job is not stable. Many peoples jobs keep changing like employees who are working for small company or governmet. In such cases renting an apartment is always would be perferred.Sometimes people finance their home by taking a loan or on credit. It is a large investement. This could be problamatic if you dont pay monthly installments. It could stole your peace of mind.In many cases people dont et returns even after such a huge investement what they had expected.
Afterall, investing in home is depends on person to person. But at the end owning a home is always be a beneficial if you planned it properly. In country like India people has faced critical issues like housing crisis in pandemic situation 2020-21 because they couldnt afford a house.Overall i support the idea in many ways to own a house .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: you suggest that home ownership is valued for financial security, stability and personal freedom, and you give a clear overall view that it is beneficial when planned properly. The examples of rising property prices in Indian cities and the uncertainty faced by renters make the response relevant. Your discussion also acknowledges drawbacks, including unstable employment and loan repayments. To make the response more fully developed, explain more directly why owning is especially important in some countries—for example, through cultural expectations or limited rental security—and clarify how the pandemic housing example supports your position. Some points, such as the investment returns, are asserted rather than carefully explained, so the support is uneven despite the clear stance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several ideas are crowded together, particularly in the long paragraph beginning “The secons is stability.” Linking phrases such as “Looking forward” and “Turning to the other side” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. References such as “this” and “it” can also be unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it before moving on; clearer sentence breaks and more precise transitions would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “financial security,” “stability,” “investment,” “monthly installments” and “peace of mind.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic vocabulary. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations are noticeable, for example “commomn,” “meomories,” “prices are alway increases,” and “stole your peace of mind.” Some wording is also imprecise, such as “personal home” and “governmet,” which can make the reader pause. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “property prices rise” and “cause financial stress,” rather than translating expressions directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional ideas such as “if your job is not stable” and explanations introduced by “because.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “prices are alway increases” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “The people who dont own a home always lives” has a subject–verb agreement problem. “In country like India” also needs an article, and “owning a home is always be a beneficial” combines incompatible verb forms. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review articles and agreement. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would make your complex ideas easier to understand.
