IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, numerous residents of some countries owning a home instead of renting one has become essential. This is heppening mostly because of high rent of peoperties and this is a good investment in peroperty. In my point of view, this is good development to buy own homes rather than living in rent houses.

Nowadays, people have more attraction toward buying a home for their living. However, they take a loan, borrow from frinds and family to buy a own home. They don't prefer to live in a rented home. Because, the rate of homes too much high which a normal person can't afford. For instance, one ordinary citzen who's salary in few thousands like average income of every resident is approximately 50 thousands, furthermore he is living in a rented house. How will he manage all the expenses like, rent of home, electricity bill, water bill, gas bill, the expenses of family, fuel and other more things. This is impossible for one person manage all these things alone.

On the other hand, this a good investment to buy a home. Today, if the peoperty market is low, should to invest in it. In the future, the price of the same market you had buy in past will touch the sky and you get the profit. In today era, if any one want to do business and get the income doube or high profit, he should invest money in property. This is good opportunity for him.

In conclusion, owing home is beneicial it is a grreat investent. Rather, who live in rented home they face difficulty in search of next home and become petient of anxiety.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you suggest that high rents and the prospect of property gains encourage ownership, and you clearly favour buying a home. The investment point is relevant, and the example about a person managing rent and household bills attempts to explain the financial pressure. However, the reasons are only partly developed. The discussion of rent lists expenses but does not clearly show why ownership is more affordable or attainable, while the investment argument relies on a broad prediction that prices “will touch the sky.” The conclusion repeats your view rather than adding a developed final insight. Explain the causes more precisely and support each with a realistic example or consequence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly separate the financial pressure of renting from the investment case, which helps the reader follow the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track. The example beginning “For instance” becomes a long list of expenses and ends with “This is impossible,” without clearly connecting that claim to the preference for ownership. Connectors such as “However,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” are used, but some do not express the relationship accurately; the investment paragraph is not really a contrast to the previous point. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and make references such as “the same market” more specific.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “rent,” “loan,” “investment,” “property market” and “profit,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “more attraction toward buying,” “living in rent houses,” “the same market you had buy,” and “become petient of anxiety.” Spelling errors—including “heppening,” “peoperties,” “citzen” and “beneicial”—are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than ambitious but unclear wording: for example, describe people as “drawn to home ownership” and say that property values may “rise.” Proofread spelling and check collocations in a dictionary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea about future property prices and a question about managing expenses. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in sentence construction, articles, verb forms and punctuation. Examples include “owning a home … has become essential,” where the opening structure is awkward, “buy a own home,” and “the price of the same market you had buy in past.” The fragment “Because, the rate of homes too much high” also interrupts the sentence flow, while “This is impossible for one person manage” is missing a grammatical link. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles and verb patterns. More accurate control of these basics will make your ideas easier to follow.
