IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
For the public of some countries it is more valuable to be a owner of house ranther than being in rent housing because of the freedom and the no pressure of rent and i do belive its a positive thing.
To being with, its a positive thing because of several merits it has. The comfort ,he happiness and the feelings. To explain it, the feelings , the comfort and the happiness that the person fell in his house he or she will not find in the renting one it due to the physology and mentality of people they feel more relxed and no tension in three house ranther than in rent. To be spicific, the person in rentaing arpartment dont have that much of freedom and he has the pressure to bulid his own house because in there personal house there will be no one to stop then what they want to do there will be no restriction in own house which they dont find in rent one.
To addmore, no pressure of paying rent at the month end. Elabroating on oit, in there own house they will not have the finincial pressure that they will need to pay rent at the end of month which they have to do in the rent one without any argument because they are satying on other house and have to pay for them. For example, if the person is leaving in some ones house and he or she has rent it they need to pay the amount at month end which they cant deney cause its aganinst the rule. So i think it as a positive side.
To conclude, peopel of some countries give more priority to own house due to the freedom , no pressure to pay rent and the feelings, the happiness that they find in their own house ranther than in rant one.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that people value ownership for greater freedom and relief from rent, and you clearly call this a positive situation. These points are relevant, but the explanation remains limited and sometimes unclear. For instance, you say owners feel “more relaxed” and face “no restriction,” but do not explain what practical freedoms or long-term benefits ownership provides. The rent argument also needs more precision: owning a home may remove monthly rent, but owners can still face mortgage payments and other costs. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a specific, realistic explanation or example, and make the distinction between why ownership is valued and whether that preference is beneficial clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main ideas are grouped sensibly: freedom and comfort are discussed first, followed by rent payments. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “To add more,” and “To conclude” help signal this organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several points are repeated, and some references are unclear—for example, “in there personal house” and “the rent one.” The example about paying rent largely restates the preceding point rather than extending it. Use clearer topic sentences, refer to people and homes consistently, and make each example add a distinct detail to the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “freedom,” “financial pressure,” “restriction,” and “priority.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “a owner of house,” “being in rent housing,” “the person in rentaing arpartment,” and “the feelings, the comfort and the happiness.” Spelling errors such as “physology,” “relxed,” and “Elabroating” are also noticeable. Aim to learn common housing collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “homeownership,” “rental accommodation,” and “housing costs” would help you express your ideas more naturally and efficiently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with explanations, but control is inconsistent, especially when clauses are joined. For example, “To explain it, the feelings, the comfort and the happiness that the person fell in his house he or she will not find in the renting one” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “they feel more relxed and no tension” does not form a complete, accurate comparison. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and verb forms, as in “a owner,” “they are satying,” and “they cant deney.” These errors can make some sentences difficult to follow. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check articles and verb forms.
