IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is a controversy about buying a house rather than renting. In some nations purchasing a dwaling rather than renting one is very significant for individuals. Owing to most people pay half of their salaries to the home owners. I believe it is a positive development everyone has their own home and they live freely in it.
On of the main reason is that is to say that people spend half of their salaries give to the home owners and then it is very difficult to manage their livelihood. Furthermore, when people are in mature age they survive easily in renting home but when they get old or retired from their job it is very difficult to pay rent. For example, in Pakistan most people who live in urban cities is in renting appartments they worked too hard to fulfil their needs but when they get old there survival in cities become to difficult. As a result, they go old age home or relatives home.
This essay support it is positive development, because whose individuals lives in renting appartment or dwalings they not live their life freely because they afraid from crash anything in the houses otherwise home owners get extra payment from them. In addition, If governments launch housing schemes in low budgets and low doown payment, then everyone will be have their own home where the spend their life according to themselves.
In conclusion, There is an ongoing debate about owning a dwaling instead of renting. Because people survival now become very difficult in this modern society. From my perspective, it is a positive situation everyone has right to live on their on space.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that people value ownership because rent consumes a large share of income and can become difficult to afford in retirement, and you clearly regard home ownership as positive. The example about older people in Pakistan gives the explanation some relevant support. However, the reasons are not equally developed: the point about having freedom in one’s own home is asserted rather than explained, and the proposed government housing schemes are not clearly connected to why ownership matters to people. To strengthen the response, explain the security or independence ownership provides and develop the example with a clearer link to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main position is generally identifiable. You also use linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the opening sentence beginning “Owing to most people…” is incomplete, and the first body paragraph moves from rent costs to retirement and then to old-age homes without clearly connecting each step. Some transitions, including “This essay support,” do not accurately signal the relationship between ideas. Use complete topic sentences and make each paragraph develop one main point in a clear sequence, with references that identify who or what is being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “purchasing,” “retired,” “livelihood,” and “housing schemes,” and the reader can generally understand your central ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repeated. For example, “dwaling” is repeatedly used where “dwelling” or “home” is intended, “home owners” is less natural than “landlords” in the context of rent, and “survive easily in renting home” does not express the intended idea clearly. Spelling errors such as “appartments” and “doown” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of housing-related expressions and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If governments launch housing schemes…,” and you communicate a general position. However, control is uneven, and faulty sentence construction sometimes makes relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Owing to most people pay half of their salaries…” does not form a complete grammatical clause, while “On of the main reason is that is to say…” contains several structural problems. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “most people… is” and “everyone will be have.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles and verb forms. Aim for accurate complex sentences rather than adding several clauses that are difficult to control.
