In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In few nations owning a home rather than renting one is very significant for individuals. Although they have many reasons like feel streesfree, I believe that it is a positive development.

On the one hand, there are many reasons of this view point that is full of freedom. This is due to the fact that many people want their owning home because they think that they feel comfortable and stressfree in owning home. They go anywhere in anytime if they have own home and they have no stoppage of any person who stop them to do party or any doing any event their home. For instance, In big cities people like to purchasing their own home because they have full freedom and they invite their friends at home and spend fruitfully time with them.

On the other hand, I believe that it is a positive development because of they make their own property. This means that they have no worry like pay installments and they make their permanent property. So that it is a good thing because in future they live stressfree in their own homes. Another point in its favour is the growth of the economy. To elaborate, if people have their own home then they pay tax or electricity and water bill. Its beneficial for country because it help to growth of the economy.

To conclude, even though there are several reasons to owning home, I believe that it is a positive development because of growth the economy and make their belongings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you suggest that home ownership offers freedom and comfort, and you state that it is positive, citing property ownership and economic growth. However, the reasons are only partly developed. For example, the claim that owners have “no worry like pay installments” is unclear, since buying a home often involves mortgage payments, and the link between paying utility bills and national economic growth needs explanation. Your position is present, though the conclusion repeats the same points rather than drawing them together. The response is 245 words, below the required 250; the nine words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your reasons and opinion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several links between ideas are unclear. For instance, “So that it is a good thing” does not clearly show how avoiding payments follows from owning a property, while “Another point in its favour” introduces economic growth without a smooth explanation of its connection to home ownership. Repeated references to “stressfree” and “own home” also make the writing feel repetitive. Use clearer links between claims and supporting explanations, and ensure each paragraph develops one main idea in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “freedom,” “comfortable,” “permanent property,” and “growth of the economy,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “feel streesfree,” “full of freedom,” “spend fruitfully time,” and “make their belongings.” “Stoppage of any person” is also not a natural way to describe restrictions on what homeowners can do. Check spelling, and learn common combinations such as “feel secure,” “have greater independence,” and “build equity.” More precise vocabulary would help you explain your ideas without relying on repeated phrases such as “own home” and “positive development.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although they have many reasons…” and a conditional structure beginning “if people have their own home.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “there are many reasons … that is full of freedom” has faulty agreement and an unclear structure; “they like to purchasing” uses the wrong verb form; and “it help to growth” has errors in both agreement and verb pattern. Several sentences also combine ideas without clear grammatical connections, as in “they invite their friends at home and spend fruitfully time.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a supporting clause, then check verb forms and subject–verb agreement.
