In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Owning a home instead of renting one is a common practice amoung people in some countries this is becasue people want to enjoy freedom from landlord restiction and the tension of paying rent every month. I think it is a positive development and it can help people acheiving mental and financial stability.
Now a days peoples in some countries perfer to buy a becasue of many reasons. The first reason is that people want to achive freedom of choice for instance if someone want to change the lay out of the house or want to change the minor detail in the house many land lord restict these changes owing a home gives people a feeling of freedom to make changes according to their needs. The second reason is that people want to get rid from paying monthly rent thats why they perfer owning a home for instance people think that paying rent to someone is not a good option instead they perfer buying home from banks or personal saving and they beleive that paying loan to bank is better option at last they end up with having their own home.
I belive that owning a home is a positive development because it can help people achive financial stabality and mental peace for example some people seen owing a home as a future investment for thier childrens and for difficult time. The second thing mental peace owing a home can give people mental peace such as they do not have to worry about rental things.
In conclusion, Many people prefer owing a house in some countires because it can give them fredom of making changes and i think owing a house is a positive development it can acting as an investment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for home ownership, including freedom to alter a property and avoiding rent, and clearly state that you see it as positive. The examples about changing a home and treating it as an investment make the response relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that paying a bank loan is better than paying rent would be stronger if you explained how ownership builds equity or provides long-term security. The benefits of “mental peace” and investment for children are also mentioned briefly, with little supporting detail. Develop these ideas with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph giving your view, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “The first reason,” “The second reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and several ideas run together within long sentences, particularly in the paragraph about rent and buying a home. Some links between claims are also unclear, such as the move from paying a loan to “at last” owning a home. Use full stops to separate distinct points, and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports. This would make the progression smoother and reduce the reliance on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “freedom of choice,” “monthly rent,” “financial stability,” and “future investment.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss ownership from more than one angle. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, including “restiction,” “achive,” “mental peace,” and “rental things.” Repetition of “owning a home” and “people” also limits variety. Choose more precise expressions, such as “restrictions imposed by landlords,” “financial security,” and “concerns about renting,” and check spelling carefully. Greater control of collocations would make your meaning more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including conditional examples such as “if someone want to change the lay out” and clauses explaining why people prefer ownership. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “someone want” and “people … perfer,” missing or incorrect articles in “buying home” and “better option,” and sentence boundaries that leave several clauses joined together. The conclusion also has an incomplete construction: “it can acting as an investment.” Practise accurate agreement, articles, and verb forms, and divide long sentences into complete units. This will improve control while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
