IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued in several countrries that owning a home rather than renting one is beneficial for people. It might be case because owning home is the safe option for financial security. In my opinion, It is a positive situation because montly rent can be stressed the families.
Firstly, for owning home is that it is good for social status. Owning a home is the safest option because it is the long term investment and parmanent residence. Furthermore, It makes families more relaxed than rental ones because all they do not pay monthly rent for the home and they make changes in thier house with full freedom. For instance, People who own their home are more relaxed than rental type families due to not have right to take any kind of changes in their home without permission.
Secondly, It is positive situation for every familiy because investment in property is parmanent investment. It is the sense of security and independence. For example, If you take a rental apartment for living you give alot of money on the other person's property it is not your investment. On the otherside, if a person invest in the home either it is small home but it gives the sense of independance and parmancey.
In conclusion, it is significantly for evey family because renting home is the waste of money and investment family couldn't make any sort of change if they rent any place. I believe that it is important of owning home for people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that home ownership offers financial security, social status, independence and freedom to make changes, and you clearly call it positive. However, the reasons are repeated rather than fully explained, and the claim that renting is “the waste of money” is too absolute and unsupported. The response is also 7 words below the 250-word minimum; the 8 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Add a developed explanation or example—such as how ownership can provide long-term stability—to clarify why this matters to families, and qualify broad claims about renting.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs return to security and independence without clearly building distinct points, and several links are awkward or unclear, such as “For instance” followed by a sentence that largely repeats the preceding claim. The conclusion also repeats the introduction rather than drawing the reasons together. Give each body paragraph one main idea, explain it in a logical sequence, and use referencing and linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “financial security,” “social status,” “long term investment” and “independence,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural: “monthly rent can be stressed the families,” “rental type families,” and “parmancey” are examples. Repetition of “home,” “investment” and “positive” also restricts precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for housing and financial benefits, and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, use “put financial pressure on families” rather than “can be stressed the families.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to express reasons and examples, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “It might be case because owning home is the safe option,” “for owning home is that it is good,” and “if a person invest in the home.” These show problems with articles, sentence construction and subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “For instance” also uses an awkward clause structure, while capital letters after commas and full stops are inconsistent. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check articles and agreement—for example, “A person who invests in a home gains a sense of independence.”
