IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some countries owing a home rather than renting home is a crucial task for citizens. It happens for some particular reasons. Personally, I believe it is a positive practice. In following paragraphs both the reasons of this practice and explainations behind my opinion will be described in details.
Firslty, if individuals buy a permanent house for them , it will be an asset for them. The next generations will find a shelter. They can lead thier life with happiness in that particular residence. Now a days because of financial crisis individuals are suffering to fullfill their fundamental needs. If they can buy a permanent house for them, it will be an extremely beneficial task for them. For instance, one of my uncle lost his job during covind pendamic. He constructed a building for his family members when he was involved with jobs. Therefore, he and his family could stay happily during their struggle period.
Furthermore, high amount finances have to be given for house renting. If a large amount of finance is given for house renting then usually individuals will not lead their life with comfort and happiness. Sometimes they need to buy luxarious materials for their family. However, they cannot do it because large amount of money is spent of house renting. After making a permanent residence it's not mandatory to spend money for house renting. Therefore, after making a residence for own individuals can either save money or they can enjoy their life with money. For instance one of my friend's family resided at urban area. They struggled to lead their life in urban area because of extremely cost. After few days by selling thier lands in villages, they bought a house in city. Then they started to lead their life with more financial comfort.
In conclusion, because of these reasons individuals buy property rather renting houses. It is convenient because after buying house individuals can make an permanet asset and next generation can lead their life easily. Furthermore, they can be free from the costs of house rent, which allows them to lead life with more economic comfort.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that ownership provides a lasting asset and security for future generations, and you clearly state that you see this as positive. The examples about your uncle and your friend’s family help make the benefits concrete. However, the reasons are not equally developed. The point about rent reducing money available for other needs is explained, while the claim that owning a home lets future generations “lead their life with happiness” is broad and would benefit from a clearer explanation of how ownership provides that security. Develop each reason with a more precise link to the question, and acknowledge that the benefits may depend on people’s financial circumstances.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “Therefore” help readers follow the argument. At times, though, linking feels mechanical or the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. For example, “Sometimes they need to buy luxurious materials” does not clearly explain why this follows from the cost of renting, and the conclusion repeats several points from the body without adding a concise synthesis. Use referencing more precisely and make each sentence build directly on the previous one; this will strengthen progression while preserving your effective paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “asset,” “financial crisis,” “fundamental needs,” and “financial comfort,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “owning a home … is a crucial task,” “high amount finances,” and “spend money for house renting.” Spelling errors, including “owing” for “owning,” “thier,” “covind,” and “permanet,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural phrases such as “an important priority,” “a large amount of money,” and “pay rent.” Check spelling carefully and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended meaning precisely rather than relying on repeated phrases such as “lead their life.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If they can buy a permanent house … it will be an extremely beneficial task” and a relative clause in “which allows them to lead life with more economic comfort.” Most of the argument is still understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Articles and noun forms are inconsistent in phrases such as “renting home,” “an permanent asset,” and “large amount of money”; sentence construction is also awkward in “In following paragraphs both the reasons … and explainations … will be described.” Improve article use, sentence framing, and punctuation around introductory phrases. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
