Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the overall rise in total visitors, from 1 million in 2010 to 3.5 million in 2017, and note that island-based visitors generally outnumbered cruise-ship visitors. These are relevant main features. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: cruise-ship numbers did not simply “fluctuate” for the next three years after 2011; they fell in 2012, then rose in 2013 and 2014. The island figure was stable at 1.5 million from 2013 to 2015, then dipped in 2016 and recovered in 2017, rather than fluctuating between figures after 2015. The overview also misses the strong late growth in cruise visitors. Select the key turning points and report them precisely to make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two visitor groups. This helps the reader follow the main categories. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track, particularly in the cruise-ship account, where “fluctuate in this number for next 3 years” does not clearly identify the years or direction of change. Linking expressions such as “overall” and “similarly” are used, but connections between individual data points are often mechanical or unclear. The final sentence also combines several stages without clear punctuation. Organise the details chronologically and use clear contrasts such as “by contrast” or “after a brief dip” to show how each trend develops.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “total number,” “increased,” “constant,” and “fluctuate,” and the reader can generally identify the two visitor groups. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “visitors staying cruis ships,” “the graph start rising,” and “fluctuate between these numbers.” Frequent spelling errors—including “grapgh,” “turist,” “increamind,” and “simillarly”—also make the writing less clear and reduce control of vocabulary. Use standard chart language consistently, for example, “visitors staying on cruise ships,” “the figure rose,” and “remained stable.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise trend verbs would make the description easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “in 2010 the total number of visitor are 1 million and then increasing up to 3.5 millions in 2017.” However, sentence structures are limited and many clauses contain errors in tense, agreement, articles, or sentence boundaries. For instance, “the total number of visitor are” needs a singular verb and a plural noun, while “the graph start rising” needs past-tense agreement. Several sentences also lack full stops or clear clause structure, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise writing accurate past-tense sentences with a clear subject and verb, then combine them using simple subordinate clauses. Greater control of these basic forms is needed before longer structures can be reliable.
