Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the period and mention the three categories, and your account correctly notes that cruise-ship visitors rose overall and island visitors ended at about 1.5 million. However, the response only partially covers the graph: it gives no clear overview of the total, which climbed from 1 million to 3.5 million, and it incorrectly describes island visitors as showing a prominent decline, although they generally rose before a small dip and recovery. Cruise-ship visitors reached about 2 million, not 1.5 million, and the starting figure was about 0.25 million rather than zero. The response is also 30 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail available. Add a concise overview and accurately compare the main trends and endpoints.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: it begins with an introduction, signals an overall view with “Overall,” and then gives some trend details. However, the ideas do not progress clearly, and the overview combines contradictory claims, saying island visitors declined while also describing their rise and later stability. The final sentence is very long and strings several stages together with repeated “and then,” making the sequence difficult to follow. Use separate sentences or paragraphs for the overall trends and the detailed comparisons, and use time markers such as “initially,” “from 2012 to 2015,” and “by 2017” to guide the reader. Check that linking words express the intended relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt some task-relevant vocabulary, including “gradually increased,” “fluctuated,” “peaks,” and “stable,” showing an effort to describe change rather than repeat basic terms. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear: “proportion” is not appropriate for the number of visitors, while “prominent declined” and “increased peaks” are awkward. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “grap,” “tourits,” “decilned,” “signifant,” and “flucuated.” Use precise terms such as “number,” “rose,” “reached a peak,” and “fell slightly,” and proofread spelling and word forms. This would make your descriptions clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to use a range of sentence forms, including an introductory clause beginning “While” and a longer sentence describing changes over time. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to understand. For example, “it is was clearly showed” combines incompatible verb forms, and “tourits was staying” has incorrect agreement and tense. The sentence beginning “The visitors living on staying…” also lacks a clear grammatical structure and contains several clauses joined without effective punctuation. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, past-tense forms, articles, and sentence boundaries before submitting.
