Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the overall rise in total visitors and cruise-ship visitors, and you note that the island-staying figure fluctuated. These are relevant main features, and several figures are broadly accurate, including the total reaching about 3.5 million in 2017. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: island visitors were about 0.75 million in 2010, not half a million, and the total had already reached about 2.75 million in 2015, remaining similar in 2016 before rising. The claim that the total “always grow” misses this plateau. Your overview is present, but the comparisons and key stages are not consistently explained, so some aspects of the task are covered more fully than others. Grouping the figures into clearer trends would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the two visitor categories and the total. This gives the reader a general route through the information. Some linking words, such as “Overall,” “Futhermore,” and “Therefor,” also signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within sentences and between details is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in “When all million of visitors 2.7 in last year to 2017 rose sharply.” The repeated use of “in next” and “at the end” makes cohesion mechanical, while references such as “all time” are not precise. Organise each body paragraph around a clear trend, and use accurate time references to make comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “reached,” and “rose sharply,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being described. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “visitors always increase,” “number of visiting,” and “highest point number of visitor.” These expressions make parts of the report difficult to interpret. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “caribbean,” “visitirs,” “Futhermore,” and “abpve.” Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a figure as “the number of visitors” and say that it “increased” or “remained stable.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main time period and broad trends can usually be understood. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. For example, “visitors staying on cruise ships was starting” needs a plural verb and a clearer construction, while “in next 6 years wasg gowing” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “When all million of visitors 2.7” is also incomplete, making the intended comparison hard to follow. Use straightforward, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check past-tense forms when reporting the 2010–2017 data. More accurate control of these patterns would make your comparisons clearer.
