Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the trends for both cruise and island visitors. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the start and end points, the description of the trends is occasionally inaccurate (e.g., stating the island visitors were 'constant' in 2010 and 2011 when the graph shows a slight increase). Furthermore, the summary lacks a clear, analytical overview of the relationship between the two categories. To improve, ensure you accurately report the data points and provide a more cohesive summary of the overall trends rather than just listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'On the other hand' to transition between ideas. However, some of these devices are used mechanically or inappropriately, such as 'from all perpesctitive' in the conclusion. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'increased', 'declined', and 'growth'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and informal phrasing, such as 'spread like a wildfire' and 'relax at cruise', which are not appropriate for an academic report. There are also minor spelling errors like 'perpesctitive'. To improve, focus on using more precise, academic collocations and avoid idiomatic expressions that do not fit the formal tone of an IELTS Task 1 report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'The given graph illustrate', 'its has shown') and incorrect verb tenses. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of tense when describing past data.
