Student answer (Band 6.0)
This line graph illustrates a huge number of visitors visiting a Caribbean island during the past 7 years.
However during 2011 from total of 3.5 million visitors round about 1 million visitors stayed on cruise ships and some stayed on Caribbean island, but there's seems a rise and fall trend on the choice of visitors either they stayed on cruise ships or stayed on Caribbean island after 2011.
The number of tourists stayed on cruise ships tends to decrease between 2012 and 2013 but dramatically rise from 2014 to 2017. 2 million visitors its the maximum the number of visitors which liked to stay on the cruise ships seems in the era of 2017.
While the 1.5 million out of 3.5 tourists stayed on island 2012 to 2015 and it gradually decreases from 2015 to 2016 and tends to rise again in the year of 2017.
Well, more visitors liked to stay on cruise ships than to stay on island during the Caribbean island tour.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main trends, such as the rise in cruise ship visitors and the fluctuations in island stays. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the statement '2 million visitors its the maximum' is unclear, and the description of the 2012-2015 period for island stays is confusingly phrased. While the overview is present, it lacks precision in comparing the two categories effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are clearly linked to specific years and that the overall comparison is more analytical rather than just a list of observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive sentence structures. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the abrupt start of the second paragraph with 'However'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'subsequently', 'meanwhile') to connect ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There is some repetition of phrases like 'stayed on cruise ships' and 'stayed on island'. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'in the era of 2017' or 'there's seems a rise and fall trend'. To improve, incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'experienced a significant increase', rather than relying on basic verbs and repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there's seems'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., '2 million visitors its the maximum the number of visitors which liked to stay'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately, paying close attention to verb tenses and article usage.
