The graph below shows the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given line graph illustrates the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island over the period from 2010 to 2017, including visitors staying on cruise ships, visitors staying on the island, and the total number of tourists

Overall, it is evident that the total number of tourists had the highest figure, whereas island recorded the lowest figures. Additionally, cruise ships are showed an upward trend over the period.

Looking first at the total number of tourists, it started at 1 millions of visitors in 2010 before rising steadily to 2.8 millions of visitors and it agains rising to 3.5 millions of visitors in 2016 and 2017. By contrast, the number of people staying on island began at 0.8 millions of visitors and then increased to around 1.5 millions of visitors in 2015. After that, it varied by the end of the period.

Regarding the visitors staying on cruise ships, the figure stood at 0.3 millions of visitors intially and experience a fluctuated in 2012. Then, it significant increased reaching 2 millions of visitors end of the period.
