Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, including the overall upward trend and the specific data points for 2010, 2013, and 2017. You made relevant comparisons between cruise ship visitors and island visitors. However, the report could be improved by providing a more precise overview. While you mention the total number of visitors increased, you could have more clearly highlighted the shift in the proportion of the two categories over the period. The data is generally accurate, though the phrasing 'reached to 0.5 million marginally' is slightly unclear. Overall, you have addressed the prompt effectively by summarizing the key trends and reporting the necessary data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'After 2013', and 'By contrast' to guide the reader through the data. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more balanced. The reference to 'the total figure of the travellers' in the final paragraph is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that your linking words flow more naturally and that you avoid repeating the same sentence structures when introducing new data points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'levelled off', 'rose sharply', and 'substantially'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'visiting in a Caribbean island' (should be 'visiting a Caribbean island') and 'visitors stayed on a cruise' (should be 'visitors staying on a cruise'). Additionally, the phrase 'reached to 0.5 million' is grammatically incorrect as 'reach' does not take the preposition 'to'. Improving your control over these collocations and prepositions will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with articles and prepositions, such as 'in a 2010' and 'in a 2013'. There are also issues with verb forms, for example, 'cruise ship travellers were seen rose sharply' should be 'were seen to rise sharply' or 'rose sharply'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
