Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided data to support your points. However, there are significant inaccuracies in your data reporting. For instance, you mention 2007 as a peak year, but the graph only covers 2010–2017. Additionally, describing the total number of visitors as 'the highest throughout the period' is redundant, as the total must logically be higher than its components. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference the years and figures on the axes. While you covered all categories (total, cruise, and island), the lack of precision in data interpretation prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Initially' and 'Secondly' to structure your response. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the use of 'And' to start sentences is repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within the body paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them sequentially.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuates', 'gradually increased', and 'peak level'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'remained same' (should be 'remained the same') and 'staying on island' (should be 'staying on the island'). The vocabulary is functional and allows for clear communication, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focusing on more sophisticated collocations and ensuring articles are used correctly would enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('on island'), incorrect verb tenses ('remained same'), and awkward phrasing ('reached about more than one million'). While these errors do not impede the overall meaning, they occur frequently enough to affect the flow. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing trends and data points.
